ricomann writes on 12/14/05 I had this tool for a while, it works on anything around 18guage and smaller, occasionally it will work on lesser quality 16 gauge wire. if you are looking to solder a car amplifier up, don't. Mine melted the tip insulation while attempting to solder a 14 guage wire in my car.
