2005+ Tacoma Fitment
Tire & wheel page on toyotanation - lots of pics
Question: Does anyone know if wheels from a 2005 Tundra/Sequoia/4Runner will work on a 2005 4x? What about other model years of Taco wheels? I saw the Wheeler OffRoad site with the alloys that will work on other years but not '05.
Answer A: I saw an '05 with the split 5 spoke Tundra wheels on the other Tacoma site a couple of months back.
Answer B: The 'O5 has many platform similarities and shares many dimensions with the 4th Gen. 4Runner. The calipers are the same size, therfore the '05 has the same fitment issues the 4Runner does. Wheels that work on one will work on the other.
Wheel Fitment
-AR Chamber 3985-6883, 16x8 size, 0 offset, 4.5 backspacing,
The Mojave part # is 3981-6883. I put the rims on with the lug nuts and turned all of them checking for clearance. I was told that they would not clear the 05 Tacoma calipers by AR. I did not incur any problems and will mount the tires in a week or so.
-ProComp Xtreme Alloy 1079-6883, 16x8x4bs, 285/75x16 BFG A/T, Tacoma 2005 4x4 TRD w/RevTek Lift 3".
The incorrect part number for the Procomp 1079 is 1079-6838 (Hubcentric)
-MB Motoring Razor 58083, 16x8x4.25bs, 285/75x16 GY MT/R's, 2005 Tacoma DC 4WD TRD Sport w/3" Revtek.
-Mickey Thompson Classic II, 16x8, 2005 Tacoma DC V6 4WD, non-trd, manual tranny -- must have 3 5/16" backspace. 4 1/4" bs or more hit's the caliper. 285 75 16 bfg mud terrain's require mud flap removal and minor dremmel trimming. and that's with tuff country 3" spacer lift.
-Eagle Alloy's #118, 2005 Tacoma Access Cab, 4WD, TRD, w/6 speed. w/BFG AT-275X70X16, improved clearance on the front suspension and no rubbing on the calipers.
-Ultra 185 (Baja Champs), 16x8x4.875bs, 2005 Tacoma DC V6 4WD with 3in lift and 285/75-16 Cooper Discoverer STT's. Minimal rubbing.
-05tacoaccesscab said "I spoke with wheelers on the phone and they told me that the 16x8 4" bs alloy wheel will fit the 05 with the trd off road package, but will not fit the 05 with the sport package."
-OR_05Taco said "...for all you 05-06 owners, Cragar soft 8s don't fit, at least not on a TRD Sport,..."
-06 Access Cab 4x4 manual 4cyl "Pro-Comp lug centric 1079-6883 16x8 will touch the caliper, but some minor grinding of the caliper will make them work (see pics here http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38241)"
-tonestoyo06 said: "I just got 17x8 mickey thompson classic locks on my 06 tacoma and the front wheels were rubbing on my brake calipers..."
and later posted in same thread: "no mines a SR5 Prerunner, i got the problem fixed, they shaved the brake calipers just enough so the wheel would clear and not too far into the brake fluid."
See tonestoyo06's orginal post at:
http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50511
-anthony_coley Crager Soft 8's ( 17x8 with 4.5 BS ) will NOT fit 06 Tacoma Sport, they hit the caliper. I even tried using a 1/4" wheel spacer and they still hit the caliper.

OTHER COMMENTS: For what they're worth...
-US wheels 84's, 2004 Tacoma (no cab,drive,or engine given). had to grind the drivers side caliper down a 1/8" and about twice as much on the passenger side. go figure
-US Wheel series 84, 15x8" 3,75" backspacing, 2002 Tacoma 4WD V6.
here's the weird part....one wheel rubbed driver's side only, one wheel rubbed passenger side only, one wheel rubbed both sides, two wheels did not rub at all...4 were bought together brand new from Summitracing.com....one of the wheels that didn't rub was bought from a TTORA member...but it was still new and also from Summit.....
-US wheels 84, 15x8/3.75bs didn't fit, 2004 Tacoma (no cab,drive,or engine given)
-US Wheels 84-5860L (15x8 3.75" BS) do not fit, they need about an 1/8" off the calipers. Probably not even that actually, I snugged them on and I could still spin the wheel but it rubbed. 2004 Tacoma 4WD V6 DC.
-US Wheels 84 Series, 15x8/3.75" BS fit, 2000 4WD V6 XC Tacoma. They are very close to the caliper but did not require any grinding or modification. Purchased in 2002 - Heard the manufacturing of these may have changed since then.
-I used (1/4") spacers on mine to make it fit. They look good! (2000 tacoma, 15x10 Crager Black Steels, 4" bs
-In 2003 and on, ABS was standard on EVERY tacoma. Funny. Pain to find before that. And now standard.
-so the Rockcrawler Series 51 at 4wheelparts do not fit? nope, it hits the caliper. i tried it, both 15 and 16" (2002 Tacoma) (no cab,drive,or engine given)
Tacoma Caliper Info
RC=Regular Cab
XC=Extra Cab
DC=Double Cab
PRE=Prerunner
SRU=Srunner
VSC=Vehicle Stability Control
These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST A
95-04 2WD I4(2RZFE) RC
95-04 2WD I4(2RZFE) XC
95-04 2WD V6 XC
These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST B
99-04 2WD I4(3RZFE) RC
98-04 PRE I4(3RZFE) XC
01-04 PRE I4(3RZFE) DC
03-04 SRU V6 XC w/o VSC
98-04 PRE V6 XC w/o VSC
01-04 PRE V6 DC w/o VSC
95-04 4WD I4(3RZFE) RC
95-97 4WD V6 RC
95-04 4WD V6 XC
01-04 4WD V6 DC
These Tacoma's use the same calipers: LIST C
03-04 SRU V6 XC w/VSC
98-04 PRE V6 XC w/VSC
01-04 PRE V6 DC w/VSC
This one uses a different one than all the rest: LIST D
95-04 4WD I4(3RZFE) XC
It seems to me that the VSC calipers are the only four piston calipers. As far as I can tell looking at the puny pictures.
Edited: VSC calipers are NOT the only four piston calipers. I know for a fact that LIST B is a four piston caliper. Others may be as well.
Added: According to Wheelers Offroad, if you have VSC no 15" wheel will fit. You must stay with at least a 16" wheel.
Added: I've read comments about the hub center changing size for 2003+. Toyota's part number for the axle hub is the same for 2000 through 2004. The investigation continues...
This information probably gives us a reason as to why some 15" wheels fit some Taco's and not others.
ricomann- I have a 95.5 SR5 taco ex-cab, my truck has four piston calipers on it from the factory.
