Hahaa! Yep...just a few. Boy was that quite a day...whew. It already came in handy when rebuilding a few parts. Thanks a bunch!!

Below is some more progress for those who are interested.

Previously I showed an "after" pic of taking the clutch and bellhousing off. Here is what we had to do to get it off....she was on there good.

Time to clean this mess up.

Scrubbed, scrubbed, wire brushed about 7 times. Cleaned all moving parts and put a coat of primer on it.

Now on to Carburator. Purchased a rebuilt kit and opened er up.

All done.

Oh...and we just got the frame back from sandblasting and got a coat of primer on it as well. First real milestone on this project.

Found a couple spots near the rear spring hangers that need cut out and a new piece welded in. A minor set back but no big deal. It first went un-noticed until sandblasting made it more apparent.

....and it continues.

It came from Minnesota but I can't be sure where it spent most of its life. It was a farm truck.

Hey man. Got lots of pics...just haven't spent the time to post em up yet. Gimme a day or two and I'll continue on with the story.

...and don't worry, your Gpop's truck is coming in real handy. Lots of parts have been used, swopped, and rebuilt to make this project whole. The only thing that has been purchased thus far has been a pair of rear shackles, front eye bolts, brake shoes and wheel cylinders. Everything else has been tore apart, rebuilt, cleaned and painted. Keeping this bad boy as original to 51' as possible.

Pics to follow shortly

I heard about it. Could have been any of us 3 boys. We all drank way much in our 20s-30s.

I blamed it on my middle bro!

Well Stock02, I'm sure this will bring back a few memories. Sorry for the blurriness.

The day we dragged er out from under the pines. I'm sure you heard that story. If your folks don't want their faces plastered on the web just say the word and I'll delete it.

Anywho...on with the pics. Below I am heating up the U-bolts from your Gpops truck to swop them over to ours. Our truck's main leaf eyes were completely wore out...the bolt wore clean through the metal bushing and into the spring eye itself. Your paps were worn as well but not as bad.

After getting our frame sandblasted and primed...we discovered a weak point above both rear spring hangers. So some cutting, welding, and grinding was in order.

Tacked in...

welded and ground smooth....sorta

view from top of fame. Measuring and drilling those holes so that the spring and spring hanger would fall in properly was a bit tricky.

view from down the side looking toward front. It's not perfect, but it'll do. Had to do this on both frame rails as well as fix the crossmember. Once we throw some undercoating on there you won't even see the slight indent....I hope

Well, the next several pics are just to show progress with all the parts we have been rebuilding. To start...are the cab mounts. Ground clean, all bolts nuts and washers run over a wire wheel (every piece of hardware that did not break during removal) is getting same treatment.

All painted up with new bushings

Fuel pump. Decided not to paint this...is was not painted from factory. Just ordered rebuilt kit for it and replaced the guts....Good to Go!

Water inlet (thermostat housing)

Water inlet and water pump cleaned and painted

Starter dismantled, cleaned and ready for paint

Starter painted

Generator before. Had to take parts from both trucks to make one working generator...thanks Gpops

Generator after

Distributer before

Distributor after. Again...had to use parts from both trucks to make one working distributor. Thanks again Gpops!!

Hood latch and radiator shroud.

The parts shelf is beginning to fill up with parts.

All we need is the head and engine block back from machinist, put it back together and we should have a rebuilt running engine very soon. Yeeehaaawwwwww!!!!

Stay tuned...many more photos will be coming soon.

Not sure anyone is following but here are a few more pics.

Oil Pan before

After

After inspecting the main springs we took off the parts truck (Gpops) we didn't feel comfortable running them. Just a bit too worn for this project. But all the other leafs were in good shape. Thanks again Gpops. So we broke em down, cleaned em up with a sanding disc and grinder, and gave em a good coat of primer. Bought two new main leafs. These will get a good coat of undercoating when we do the whole chassis.

Need to get two new center bolts...my pap is on the hunt for those today. After work we are installing leafs, rebuilt tie rod, new front brake shoes and new wheel cylinders and brake lines. Front end of chassis will be complete. All that is needed to finish the rear is install wheel cylinders, brake shoes, brake lines, and clean up the drums. Already took care of rear springs and shackles.

More pics to follow.
