Well Stock02, I'm sure this will bring back a few memories. Sorry for the blurriness.
The day we dragged er out from under the pines. I'm sure you heard that story. If your folks don't want their faces plastered on the web just say the word and I'll delete it.
Anywho...on with the pics. Below I am heating up the U-bolts from your Gpops truck to swop them over to ours. Our truck's main leaf eyes were completely wore out...the bolt wore clean through the metal bushing and into the spring eye itself. Your paps were worn as well but not as bad.
After getting our frame sandblasted and primed...we discovered a weak point above both rear spring hangers. So some cutting, welding, and grinding was in order.
welded and ground smooth....sorta
view from top of fame. Measuring and drilling those holes so that the spring and spring hanger would fall in properly was a bit tricky.
view from down the side looking toward front. It's not perfect, but it'll do. Had to do this on both frame rails as well as fix the crossmember. Once we throw some undercoating on there you won't even see the slight indent....I hope
Well, the next several pics are just to show progress with all the parts we have been rebuilding. To start...are the cab mounts. Ground clean, all bolts nuts and washers run over a wire wheel (every piece of hardware that did not break during removal) is getting same treatment.
All painted up with new bushings
Fuel pump. Decided not to paint this...is was not painted from factory. Just ordered rebuilt kit for it and replaced the guts....Good to Go!
Water inlet (thermostat housing)
Water inlet and water pump cleaned and painted
Starter dismantled, cleaned and ready for paint
Generator before. Had to take parts from both trucks to make one working generator...thanks Gpops
Distributor after. Again...had to use parts from both trucks to make one working distributor. Thanks again Gpops!!
Hood latch and radiator shroud.
The parts shelf is beginning to fill up with parts.
All we need is the head and engine block back from machinist, put it back together and we should have a rebuilt running engine very soon. Yeeehaaawwwwww!!!!
Stay tuned...many more photos will be coming soon.
