What are some nice areas to live near denver?

hello all,
Coming up in june, my fiance will be losing her job. We have decided we want to move to colorado and start over. Can anyone suggest any areas to live, within a 20 min drive of denver? We are flying out in 2 weeks to take a look around and see what we can find, but it would be nice to go out there with some knowledge as to where to start looking.

We are going to look into renting at first, then purchasing a house if we decide to stay in the area. We are looking for somewhere with a little bit of land in a quite laid back area. I have lived in busy big citeis my entire life, and would like to slow down a bit and not have so many nosy neighbors.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
J

2 years ago we purchased our house in Firestone. It's outside of Longmont. Its about 2 miles off the highway and about 15-20 minutes from north Denver. We love it. You get a ton of house for not a ton of money. It's far enough out of the big city you feel like your in the country and close enough to Longmont you can have the city life as you want. It's also a midway point between Ftcollins and Denver. My girl works in commerce city used to work in boulder and doesn't really mind the drive.

No problem. You can get a nice sized house for not much. My neighborhood I think it's roughly -3000sqft is 220+ depending. I see tons of people trying for way more tho. If buying isn't your thing rentals are showing up more too. Across the way where Troy and Molly were you can get a decent house with a 2 car in a short sale or foreclosure for under 2. Some neighborhoods bring more money as like anywhere else.

I would look rural if you want to buy. The USDA has a program where you can get money on closing or no money down depending on how qualified you are. It really makes it nice.

Monument, Sedalia, I also agree the between Longmont and Fort Collins there are some good places, but I wouldn't go east of I-25. If I had my choice, it would be up in the foothills, like Conifer or Buffalo Creek.

About the only places west like that between foco and denver are Ned and Lyons. Both boulder county and both pretty expensive.

This is just an example. We picked this up for the price range I was talking about earlier.

We love our neighbors and the area. Open field behind us

Haha! No I measured every garage door at every house we looked at. If the truck and fj didn't fit together with room to be worked on and have my tools we moved on. Our realestate broker was going to kill me I thought..... Now I work on his 4runner lol

I remember seeing a build where a guy built a runner on portals with airbags and a hummer tire inflation system just so he could roll on 40s and park in the garage. haha let the air out of the bags, air down the tires, then drive on in haha.

back on topic, no matter how you cut it, the front range is not a cheap place to live. Westminster, Broomfield, Layette, Erie, ect are all within 20 min of denver/boulder but are a little more on the urban side. can still find a nice house on a half acre most of those places though. regardless, everything is cheaper than Boulder
