What kind of gas mileage do you get?

After 11 months and 27,000 miles, I'm finally getting the itch to mod the Taco. Thinking I'll go less rock crawler and more expedition style with this one; no bigger than 33's, full armor but more plate than tube, rear locker, etc. Since it is my daily driver/work truck and I typically drive 90-120 miles a day, gas mileage will remain a high priority. Currently I get 20.5 mpg pretty consistently and I'd like to decrease that as little as possible. For those of you who daily your trucks, what kind of mileage do you get and with what mods?

My 87 was a solid 27 with 5.29s 3rz toy axles. Best tank was 32.

With new mtr and 17"raceline beadlocks went to 16.8 at best.

With diamond/Fj cruiser axles and 5.29s Raceline combo as listed above. Pullin trailer/ dead tow a 4runner 14mpg.

I average 14-16 now daily depending on how I drive.

my taco was around 16-17, I think I got around 20 once driving across I80 thru utah/nevada @ 65 (very flat). I'm a speed limit driver. That trip I tracked mpg going 75 out to Cali and 65 back, just to see what the overall mpg improvement was (1-2 mpg at best).

I noticed an improvement when I removed the bud builts, but I haven't taken a mileage reading lately. The truck just feels more responsive. My auto-tranny is pretty pissed, so it's not a very good benchmark.

since you only have 27k miles im guessing you have a second gen taco so idk how relevent my 3.4l 1st gen info will be but i drive to denver for wok daily on 265/75/16's and get anywhere from 21-23mpg depending on my driving conditions. But i also have a manual which helps alot once i get my 285's ill give ya an update to see the dent in my mpg.

Truck is in sig, it's a '97 extra cab 3.4L manual with stock-sized 31" LTX's on the 15" version of the double tri-bar alloy wheel. It's got a camper shell and usually a couple hundred pounds of tools, wire and ladders in the back. I just rolled over 176k miles. I don't usually rev it past 4k rpm's and usually stay within 5-10 miles of the speed limit. Seems like my mileage might already be on the high side compared to some of you, at ~20. Did any of you notice a major drop after a certain mod, like switching to steel wheels from alloy, a couple inches of lift, a front bumper or something like that? I know it sounds like I'm trying to build an expedition-ready hypermiler lol, but I guess I'm looking for a baseline on mpg loss due to certain mods.

Biggest was going to the q78s. After that it was the armor, but you will want that weight, trust me.

i did notice a drop in MPG when i finished my lift, 3" in back and 2.75 in front! aside from that im useing tube armor so its a bit lighter then plate but i also have 150-200lbs of sands bags i yanked off the side of the road to help in rain/snow/ice conditions cause our trucks can get a bit squirrelly and to break in the new leafs!

My 2002 Runner with 33's, 4.88's, front winch bumper, rear bumper with tire carrier, sliders, big O skid plate and roof rack averaged 15 mpg. The biggest drop in mpg was the addition of armor but I did not use tube.

I averaged just above 16 for my trip to PA and back. Best tank was 19, worst was 14. The 14mpg tanks (yes, there were a few) were across Kansas.. both coming and going.

16-17 mpg city in my 6MT FJ Cruiser (it's AWD). I haven't gotten it out on the highway much but I doubt it will do better than 17.

My rig typically gets 15 - 16 in town, but usually drops 1 MPG in the winter. Probably because it runs on fast idle more. Used to get 17 MPG when truck was new. But that was before adding hundreds of pounds in armor and stuff in tool box.

15mpg in town 20mpg on the highway. 2007 Tacoma leveling kit and 32s 6spd. My fully built SAS 03 double cab on 37s, that was supercharged, got 17mpg on the highway and in town.
