I got a lower a-arm but I probably won't have the truck/ride to get up there till Monday am....

I was told to call search and rescue and let them know, I can only find an emergency number.... Does anybody have a non emergency number???

I would call the park county sheriff before not search and rescue if you want to let someone know the truck is there but you are OK.

Looks like he got some body damage judging by Facebook. Hopefully we'll get a bigger update soon.

Alright,
truck is off the mountain as of 5pm yesterday. Total tally:

Broken A-arm
Bent half shaft
front fender jacked (unable to open passenger door)
broken front corner lens
broken rear corner lens

Scotty has always wanted me to SAS the thing... and I know it's a dead horse. I'm just not sure about the cost to benefit ratio.

Thanks for help from Devo, Dave, Carlos and Scotty. As well as the complete strangers who I met wheeling and took us in for the night... then drove us up the next morning to try to fix it.

Is that rust I see where the arm broke? If so it may have had a crack for a while before it finally let go.

It's light rust but it was a clean break when it first happened. It's been sitting in the water for 4 days.

Changing those LCA's in the driveway is no fun, can't imagine having to deal with it on the trail (especially where you were at).

Guess it's a good thing the bolts didn't seize, I had to use a sawzall/angle grinder to change mine.

i changed mine 2-3 years ago with a LOT of anti-sieze.... it came apart surprisingly easy. I'm currently struggling with what to do next with this thing.

Has anybody seen this before? Is it a fluke?

sounds fluke to me.... between Ike and Nate they have put their trucks thru crazy stuff and have blown more cv's than most people i have known. and to my knowledge they haven't had a lca snap like that. though i have always looked at mine and wondered why it was so small there...

Has your truck seen a lot of air, baja style driving? It seems to me, that style of driving could stress there a lot.

It is a fluke, all the shit I put my front end through I never had that happen. I have had a Lower ball joint fail but the arm was fine, even after I drug it across the rocks bajaing off behind the rocks at 45-50mph.
