SAS help

Thought I would see if there is anybody out there that would be willing to help with doing an SAS on my 4runner. I plan on doing it in steps over time before finally cutting off all the IFS and mount up my solid axle

The frame shackle tube is what I am having the hardest time accomplishing on my own. I was planning on doing it myself with a hole saw but it is my understanding that there is some webbing in the frame rails in the location the tube goes and would require a torch or plasma cutter which I don't have access

willing to supply beer/pizza or pay cash for time or all of the above!

I am located in southern CO but willing to travel

I have my own welder and can bring it along with my own GAS and wire if prefered

or even if you have some tips on how I can do this on my own with basic tools

Aside from using frame tube jigs, I haven't heard of the frame having webbing or anything inside of it; last I saw it's a basic boxed frame with no guts. I'll offer help; got an open bay at the shop for a while... not taking on any more "long-term" projects until the current "longest-term" projects get done... or closer to done; either way.

Seems you should be able to use a hole saw; then dremel out the holes so the frame tubes sit square in the rail itself... never done it, but that's how I see it happening.

There is webbing inside the frame that will be a pain to get out. It was on my 87 when I did it. It took a bit to get it out. After that its all down hill. Doesn't matter how the tube sits in the frame. Wakkjobb has the tools to help with that. A hole saw may be your best bet.

Now I want to see this webbing stuff... and considering the location on the frame, I can't see why it'd be there; like if it were structurally helpful or something.

I've seen pics of it these last couple weeks on pirate and yotatech but tried to find them to show you and cant find anything on it just people saying they have to use a torch or plasma after they drill them

I would like to do the hole saw just to have a clean hole and not have to do alot of filling. but a torch as a back up would be great

Use the jigs to mark the frame, use hole saw to cut the outside frame. If you have any internal brackets, use a torch or plasma. As long as the outside frame holes are true, it's not an issue.

My tip of the day.....put in an axle with normal 1-ton kingpins (preferably) or ball joints. By going this route, you will be rewarded with several options for steering thus making your life much easier

dont plan tons i want to keep it all Toyota

If I can get my drive train swapped over from my current 81 to my new 81 chassis/cab I would be ready to do the full complete swap now since im using the 84 front axle thats in my current 81. also since I am on my own for working on my vehicles where I live i have to do it in step

unless someone wants to make the drive and lend a hand!

This. Although steering isn't an issue with leaf springs. Trying to do my link setup with the tiny little Toyota steering arms has been a royal pain in the ass. I gave up on assist and I'm going full hydro. Less headache.
