New from Thornton

I keep hearing other Toyota owners mentioning this forum so I finally had to join to see what's up. Actually I joined awhile back and never posted til now(think I joined to try to find some tires originally).

I have a 2007 Voodoo Blue FJ Cruiser lightly modded with 3" Toytec Ultimate coilovers and rear springs. Allpro sliders and some BFG AT KO's.

I have only lived in CO about 18 months now but absolutely love it here! Hope to get some more trail time in 2010 than I did last year.

So, hello to all and see you around!

Reese

I am in North Thornton around 136th-ish and Colorado. You can't miss mine if you see it. It has Kangaroo Crossing signs on the doors and says windshield rock chip repair on the back glass.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Hey - can you repair a glass headlight with a stone chip, or do they get too hot?

What's up CR! Well I haven't officially started yet. Don't worry still going to be doing the windshield repair & headlight restoration. This is an evening job so it shouldn't interfere.

In order for glass to be repaired with the equipment and resin I use it must be a laminated glass(like a windshield). Some windows are laminated as well. The glass will usually say laminated somewhere on it.

Have you priced a new one? Glass headlights are usually pretty cheap.

No, I haven't - these are the trapezoidal ones, no aftermarket replacements, which is a bummer because the beam pattern blows.

What year, make and model are they on? Are they the headlights or fogs? Also is there a whole where the chip is or is it a chunk out of the glass?

hmmm, I thought that year model had plastic/composite lenses? I found a website that had two different one's listed for that year model but it says the trapezoid shape are composite. The glass one's are just rectangular.

*I have no connections to this site nor have I ever seen their products in person. I just ran a search for Toyota lights and found them. I am sure they are aftermarket parts and not OE given their pricing.

I thought I heard you lurking...

I did not apply. I've got too much on my plate right now with two research positions, a lab assistant gig, a research grant to fulfill and an honors thesis to write while I'm finishing out the last semester - but once I graduate in May will be seriously looking unless I get funding for graduate school! Thanks again for the info and insight - I might ask again when I'm in neck deep.

Well I know who to call, I thinks it's just a matter of time, the windshield is so pitted it's hard to see when the sun hits it directly.

That's cool, it sounded like a sweet position though. I even thought if you didn't go for it maybe I would, but like I told you they were trying to lock me down and they did, so no posting out for awhile for me.
