New in Colorado Springs

Made it to Colorado Springs last weekend but unfortunately my 4runner didn't survive the trip.

Four words 'Wear you seat belt'. I walked away without a stratch.

Rip!

Short story lost control outside of Little America, Wyoming while reentering the interstate and wound up in the median. My brother was right behind me in a Uhaul when it happened and it scared the crap out of him. It took about 3 hrs for a tow truck to get there to get the car back on it side due to other accidents.

I'll know Monday from my insurance what the verdict is on it.

Noticable damage:

Front passenger side door doesn't open
Broken out glass in front passenger side door
Drivers side front fender crushed and side corner maker hanging out
Both sideview mirrors
Roof crushed in upper a-pillar, wind shield busted in this area.
Roof shows buckling at the b and c pillars
Roof bowed behind sunroof
Interior trim pieces in the cargo area busted from stuff I had back there
Rear hatch doesn't open all the way because of the roof damage
Roof rack busted
Other misc bits broken off
Engine damage unknown - laying on it's side for about 3.4-4 hrs while waiting for a tow truck (about 8 accidents at the same time as mine)

Airbags did not deploy.

Yep. Either another 3rd gen, 01-04 double cab tacoma or landcruiser.

It's kind of funny I've been though some messed up mountain biking accidents prior to this but this one has taken a pretty good total on me mentally.

That's a pretty rough "Weclome to Colorado"... glad you're okay. If the insurance totals it, ask what the buy-back price is; maybe it'll be cheap enough to keep and part it out to fund the next project?

It's hard to tell from the pics but did the roof get pinched on both front corners? That's usually a total-out since the A-pillar is damaged on both sides.

the 4th photo down shows the damage at the drivers side a-pillar which was really none except at the corner of the sunroof. The passenger side a-pillar took a good hit so that door didn't open. Both the doors on the driver side opened up fine.

I blame Wyoming. My sister did a 360 up on that stretch of i80.. shook her up pretty good too.

Welcome and glad you are OK. Sorry about your rig. A rollover keeps your head in check for a good while. Hope you end up with another 3rd gen that you can just swap everything over to.

The insurance company holds the title to it now.

The repairs are more that the ACV (actual cash value).

When my Camaro was wrecked I bought it back for salvage value ($500).... IMO it's worth checking out; you could part it out and make some bucks.
Hell, I sold that car twice; first time dude flaked on payments so I repo'd it; second time the drivetrain went into a 58 Impala.

Yep. As soon as pick it up parts are being ordered.

Was tempted to pick a 06 4th Gen v8 that they had. It had 156k and they were asking 12.5k for it but it didn't feel right to me.

Updated as of 1/8/12

Running boards removed
Bud built front skid installed
Tacoma whip antenna installed
Had the P0420 error code pop up on me so the rear O2 sensor got replaced and I cleared the code. Fingers crossed that it doesn't come back.

After crawling around the underside of it for the past 2 days I haven't been able to spot any rust and the underside shows to signs of it ever being offroad.

Anyone know anyone that could weld on a set of sliders or help with the tundra brake upgrade?

I'm going to be doing a Tundra brake conversion here soon. It shouldn't be too much of an issues other then the cost of the calipers. I'll be junk yard hunting for sure.

I was following this on Expo and just made the connection with the most recent pics.
