Kyle finally fulfilled his tire climbing destiny!

Had fun doing the snowbashing at the end there too!

And yet...I'm still entirely confused how the jeep made it lol

I have a 22R starter from my 84 that'll more than likely work on your truck, also likely I won't need it since I'm attempting to get a completely different engine. Maybe orange crusher has an old starter from the Mrs' 79?

So apparently my driveshaft bolts weren't the only thing loose lol Went to tinker with the starter, and guess what? It was hanging on to the stud and the bottom bolt was lose. New nut and everything tightened up, good as new!

Jon, what pic are you talking about? I didn't take any, but I know Kenny took a few with his phone. I'll see what he has.

My arms are dead tired from battling with manual steering all day. Think I'll be converting to hi-steer after China Wall this weekend lol

My starter used to have a death wish too. I think I found it hanging by 1 bolt about 4 different times. Like I was telling you, you need to replace those motor mounts. All those vibrations on that old engine are going to make it crap a lot of parts. Just watching your motor at idle, it was moving a few degrees. I'm sure as you rev it up, it really starts flopping around in there. After I got new ones, the reliability of my truck got WAY better.

If you plan on running dual or 4.7 t-cases in the future, I would recommend these. They will hold up to the driveline twist better than OEM ones will. I still have the same ones holding in my 3.4 with dual cases, and that motor doesn't move anywhere. The tradeoff is that you will feel a little more vibration through the cab. But rest assured, the engine is not moving in relation to the frame. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page:
http://www.trail-gear.com/performance-parts

Then eventually, you might think about doing your transmission mount too. But depending on what your plans for the truck are, you might wait until you upgrade t-cases or cross-members...if you plan on doing that. If not, the stock rubber ones are fairly cheap and easy to come by. I went to a Front Range Offroad Fab cross-member at the same I did the motor mounts. Again, its a very solid mount that gives you more vibration in the cab, but it's not going anywhere.

As of right now, it's looking kind of less likely. Brad and I have some more work to do in the Springs next weekend. So we won't have as much time to travel. And I think Brad would need to borrow a trailer for the long highway and steep hills down there. If we wheel at all, I think we might head down to Penrose since it's a bit closer. I haven't talked to Lauren about it yet, so there's still a possibility. But unfortunately, I think we probably won't be able to make it.

He doesn't have very many pics but I think this is what you're looking for...

Kyle, I'm definitely going to be getting some new mounts. I'll probably take a little break after China Wall to do hi-steer and such, and I'll do those at the same time. Not sure how far I'll really take the truck in the mod dept. Just want a capable, reliable rig. So I guess I'm about halfway? lol

Jon, I'm still planning on China Wall, and if it's full-size safe, Kenny might tackle it in his F-150. I'll have the fiance along for her first ride. Not planning on camping though. Housesitting for her parents and we gotta head back to feed the horses at night.

I believe we met at the Home Depot at about 8:30 and were probably on the trail just before 10. Why?

Just wondered how early you started; last year we usually got there around 10-11. Jeez, relax!

Plus I thought I saw some rigs around that area when I was heading to Academy/I-25... and cried a little.
