Talking Sub-woofer boxes

Hey guys, just thought i post up the work i did today on my sub-woofer box. I would have put in my 4runner like it was, but overall it was wayyyy to heavy and took up a ton of space so i fixed that instead of going out and buying some new ones, here are the pics. Now i just get to wait to get it all hooked up...

Original Box-

After taking the main middle section out-

Then i had the two boxes that i wanted so i trimmed more off from the main middle section and then cut the box into three pieces to join the front and back and make them smaller.-

Before Screws, gluing, and sealing -

Finished, just need to hook everything back up(bottom has small 1 inch hole to port the box)-

Let me know what you all think, i really like them and they fit much better so far.

u get the volumes right for porting the boxes for your subs. i know those like to run a high volume box when its ported. i prefer the sound of a sealed box anyway. that could let you make them even smaller. did rashid help you with it? looks like his foot in the pic. haha

So what if i put the port hole facing down, it is flush with the rest of the box, or would you just seal er up because i haven't screwed in the subs.

doesnt matter if they are pointed down. what matters is that you get the volumes of the box right for the type of box you built. im not an expert but i know that the ported boxes, like any box, needs to be built to the correct volumes so you dont let the speaker throw beyond its excursion limits or overheat. sealed boxes are easy to get right and have cleaner sound in my opinion. ported and vented boxes give you the boom boom but require more effort to get the volumes and the port dimensions right. troy is the audio expert though
