Steel source

Ok, all you fabricators, where do you get your steel. I'm in the denver area - north side, but anywhere will do. I'm looking for some U channel, or rectangular tubing.

Any help is appreciated,

Loren

what kind of steel are ya looking for? ill talk to vinnie tomorrow as he is passed out drunk again... lol we are getting ready to buy some in a few weeks maybe. but we are both looking at tube. no square. but you need to figure out what grade you are looking for depending on what you are using it for. that is going to determine where you are going to get your steel from

for new stuff I usually go to dencol, it's the big yellow buildings on i-70 and i-25. I dunno how it prices to other steel suppliers as I've never really shopped around but it's about 10% of Home Depot

Hey All.

I buy about A LOT (millions of dollars worth) of steel per year and am going to try and get a good guy deal from one or 2 of my suppliers. If you can tell me in feet how much you want and I can get a good idea on what we are looking at for a group buy I wll start asking around.

Start posting how much you think you will need so I can get a count.

I just went to K&K Surplus today. They have scrap piles of stuff that they sell buy the pound. I had to buy new. They sell new by 6', 10', 12', 20' or 24'. Not the best prices but I only needed a 6' piece of 2x4x3/16 and a 6' piece of 2x4x11 gauge. They are just east of I-76 at 88th ave. and south on Brighton Rd. about 1/2 mile.

k & k has ok prices if you buy 40 feet or more.... i believe unless steel has gone up again in the last year that it drops the price down to about 3.76 a foot for DOM 1.5 tube 1/8 wall. really not that bad. i go there for stainless but if you just need a little bit of something not bad at all. and honestly unless you are buying over 100 feet of anything their prices are going to be about the same as dencol and similar metal shops

prodigy..... i would want 120 feet of either dom or hrew 1.5 1/8 wall. shoot me a pm and let me know roughly what i would be looking at. i wouldn't pull the trigger till after the summer but ya

Prodigy & co...you guys still looking at a bulk buy?

1.75OD 11g/0.120 wall for me.

It'd be nice to have some 13g/0.090 as well.

We-e-e-e-e-ell...I'm picking up some practice tube shortly (HREW), later I'll need some 13g and 11g 1.75OD DOM if anyone wants to do a bulk buy. Sometime between now and the next few months would be fine.
