new skidplate

Here's the new skid plate All Phase in Longmont created for me. It's 1/8" steel with flared holes. My bumper finally looks complete....

Although I forgot till just now that they still have my front license plate! Don't know where I'd put it anyway...lol.

Zip tie it to the skid plate through the holes in it. That'd work, ha. And Ric, you coming out with us sunday? I'm thinking we're gonna meet at Ted's Place starting at 9, and probably leave about 10 for the trail or earlier if everyones there sooner.

Kelly Flats is west of Ft. Collins, so maybe an hour and 45 min. north of Springs on I-25, then maybe another half hour to the meet up point. Sunday morning, so there will be no traffic on 25 or anywhere else. We got some other folks coming from Denver...ask Colorado125 about 'em. What kinda mileage you get out of that 2.7?

BTW, in the process of designing the new skid plate, All Phase stripped out all the bolts on the front 3 mounts, which had previously been upgraded from stock by Jed at Armorology. I found that it's near impossible to reinstall the skidplates with the new addition. The holes just don't line up and all the fixed nuts are stripped out. Oh well! Guess that means more custom fabrication in the future. That's it dammit...I'm learning to fucking weld.

I am thinking about making up some skids for mine and my brothers truck.

I cant decide if i should use 1/8 or 3/16 plate? I looked into that Uhmv plastic, but its too much $$$$

Have you beat up on that skid? If so has it held up well, or would you rather it be thicker?

Thanks

Jerry

Somehows I missed this thread last month. Oh well.

If Gumbercules still has three stripped or otherwise carnaged frame nuts, I have a drill & tap to make them 3/16 bolts instead, there's enough material to do it. All my skid plate bolts are 3/16 now, the stock threads were trashed and it was easier than finding the metric tap that matches those threads. I probably still don't have that tap.

You coming Sunday? We could do it then if you want.

Thanks Ric! Yeah, I have since broken one of their welds on the cross brace behind the skid, and I've been meaning to visit them. They're good folks, and I"m sure they'll take care of me.

I'll bring the skid and we can tap 'em out. As for installation, I need to bend that crossmember and weld it again. Anybody feel like welding? It's only an inch and a half weld, connecting the crossbrace behind the skid (the one that the front of the stock skid bolts on to, with three fasteners) on one side. Not sure how well I'm doing describing it, but I'll be there on Sunday to demonstrate visually.

I'll bring the welder and the tap, I forget the drill size but I know it's around. BTW I think I said 3/16", I meant 3/8"...whatever drill is the size to tap for 3/8" coarse thread. Gonna need a grinder too, to blast out the old weld. What thickness? I'll bring the extension cord and my adapter, but if there's not either a 30A or 50A 6-50R or a 30A dryer outlet, it'll only be 110V so nothing thicker than 3/16" for a good weld.

Molly what's the scoop on 220V...I have a cord, the work just needs to be within 50' of the outlet, what kinda receptacle is in the place?

I don't know if we're coming Saturday night too, or just Sunday...we'd hate to miss drinking, debauchery and pumpkin carving!

Oh hell yeah we have 220v. I am pulling the stove out! (10 feet from garage... ) Or we are using the extension from the dryer... LOL

Jeremy you know Dave at All Phase would fix it right up for ya if you asked him

But if we can fix it for you (i'll supervise with the unplugged stove) It'll be more fun!

Now there's also the issue of your lower factory skidplate getting ripped off in Farmington. You need to fix that one too (i.e., replace it)

99% certain it'll hafta be the dryer, it's usually a 30A 10/3 pigtail and that's the only adapter I have to the welder plug. Stoves are different, and the welder is a 6-50P which is different from stoves and dryers.
