Love or hate Glocks but the ease of complete disassembly and reassembly is a marvel of engineering compared to almost all others.

If I had two pieces of advice , I'd say leave your finger off the trigger until ready to fire and always follow behind other cars at a reasonable and safe distance to where you can stop safely if the car in front of you had to slam on it's brakes.

Anybody else shoot muzzleloaders (blackpowder rifle)? I have a 50 cal Austin Halleck that i absolutely love. Around here we can not use rifles for deer hunting so we are limited to shotguns and close range shooting. However muzzleloaders are legal which is great since mine will reach out between 200 and 250 yards with no problem and is amazingly accurate. You only have one shot.....but that is all it takes.

It has the same Surefire 4rail foregrip, the same EOTech red dot, but I still need the Surefire weapon light...I cheaped out and got the Streamlight scorpion. I'd like to install a vortex flash hider, but I'm uncomfortable about the idea of cutting into the barrel to make the threads. It's a pre-ban. I also need the BUIS like you've got and I'll be finished!

Your gun is a "Post-ban" (ETA or a target barrel) if the barrel isn't threaded already. Threading the barrel is no big deal- try ADCO (http://www.adcofirearms.com/ ) or Kurt's Kuston Firearms (http://www.kurtskustomfirearms.citymax.com/page/page/8932.htm ) both have excellent customer service. You can take the barrel off to cut down on shipping costs or just ship the upper (no reason to ship the whole gun and deal with the hassle). Either way, the Vortex screws onto standard 36TPi threading.

Anybody ever purchased a custom holster from FIST Inc.?
http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/NUMBER.htm

I had them custom make a paddle holster for my Kimber, #43 in Mahogany with 1, 1/2" belt loops and the IWB clip on it too. I'll post up when I get the thing in 4-6 weeks. It takes awhile because they custom make each one upon ordering.

If I remember the historical signficance of the 45acp, a 38 special (about 9mm equivelent) was being used in the Philipines with limited success, the Philipino warriors would charge, get shot half a dozen times and then proceed to hack the American soldiers up with machettes. The soldiers sent to the Philipines begged for a more effective side arm. The 45acp was sent, 1-2 body shots with the 45 ACP and the Philipino warrior went down. It cured the charging Philipino with machette tactic. It was after its proven effectiveness that it became the military standard chambering in the Colt 1911.

You're all over it Wally. Here this is off a history page:

The man who pushed the Army into adopting the .45 caliber cartridge was Gen. John T. Thompson, the father of the Thompson submachine gun and a member of the Army Ordnance Board during the time that the M1911 pistol was being developed by John Browning and Colt. After the disastrous showing of the Army's .38 Long Colt pistols in the Philippines, Gen. Thompson was committed to the idea that the Army should be packing a real man-stopper in its handguns, a big .45 caliber bullet.

It was the cartridge tests conducted by Thompson and Major Louis Anatole LaGarde of the Medical Corps in 1904 at the Nelson Morris Company Union Stockyards in Chicago that resulted in the adoption of the .45 caliber as the official U.S. Army handgun cartridge. They tested various calibers on live cattle, deer, and human cadavers to determine the best load. From these tests it was determined that the .45 was the most effective cartridge for a handgun, but with reservations. In their report, they state:

"the Board was of the opinion that a bullet, which will have the shock effect and stopping effect at short ranges necessary for a military pistol or revolver, should have a caliber not less than .45". But they also said, "...soldiers armed with pistols or revolvers should be drilled unremittingly in the accuracy of fire" because most of the human body offered "no hope of stopping an adversary by shock or other immediate results when hit."

Excellent choice.

I have an 870 Express Super Magnum with an 18" Remington Police barrel, extended-capacity magazine, recoil pad, and spare cartridge holder on the buttstock. I'm thinking of getting a Surefire forend. I still have the factory 28" barrel in case I ever have to use the gun to put food on the table.

The 870 is an awesome shotgun.

308??? Personal experience: Avoid Armalite's AR10 it's a malfer and is junk. Misfeeds, bad extraction, problems with mags/feeding. I dumped mine...

This is very good to hear! The guys at Impact Guns said it would be a tough, reliable weapon, and the price was damn good (under $300).

I'm still figuring out what light mount I want to use, and the Surefire forend is a nice option. I guess there is a slight interference with the Knoxx SpecOps stock if you grip the forend in the wrong place, but other than it looks like it could be a winner.

Figuring out the sighting system may also be a problem. I already have a front sight, but want to slap on a ghostring setup, and I'm not sure how/if the front sight can be removed.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the good words!
