It did great till that brake caliper started locking up I thought it had something wrong with the hub but ended up just being a caliper. I had it running 60 never got hot and only used a half a tank of gas. It does have couple leaks on the t-cases but other than that its great. rode rough as he!!. Did you balance the tires with BB's? I also love the rear bumper you built for it.

domino It's alive!! Had to replace a bunch of rubber hoses that swelled up bad b/c of the oil running through them. Rod bearings on cyl 1 and 4 looked like crap again, but it's been almost 2 years since I put that set in without machining the crank. Threw a new set of bearings at it and hopefully I can go another 2 years before tearing into the motor again.

I guess that explains why it was running bad. Did you do this, or do you believe it was PO damage?
I'm thinking that the bad head gasket led to water getting on top of the piston, which bent the rod. The cylinder wall still looks good, so I am running with the assumption that there are no other major problems and putting it back together. A new piston, rings, and rod bearings on cyl 4 along with the new head gasket should get it back on the trail. Eventually I'm going to have to stop throwing band aids at this motor and come up with a permanent solution for my aging 360k mile 22re.

domino Looks like it's just the head gasket. Hopefully I can get the head checked out and everything buttoned back together by July.

domino Winch is mounted and wired up. Got the in-cab controls mounted up in a pretty convenient spot. Just need to find a good way to label the toggles that doens't look like crap. Definitely need a bumper. The winch motor hangs over the side of the mount. Would hate to smash that into a rock without any protection. Played with some 2x6 steel, but I just don't think that'll look good with this winch plate. Gonna have to find some tube and a bender..

Jordan7118 Oh, how I hate diagnosing engine troubles!

I've got an extra TPS or two if you need to borrow one, Aaron.

You may just wanna run the winch tray until you can figure out exactly what you want. At least then you'll have a winch. You've done fine without any bumper in the front, so no hurry on throwing metal at the tray.

domino Ordered a TG winch mount yesterday. After 2 years of sitting on the shelf, I finally broke down and decided to get my winch mounted back up. Not sure on a bumper design yet. I've got plenty of square stock laying around, but I'm afraid that'll look like crap. If only I knew someone with a bender..

I've also got a crap ton of trouble codes to diagnose. I'm not sure what the deal was, but the 4runner would not run right last trip out. I'm pulling a code 5 (oxygen sensor), 6(igniter/distributer), and 11(throttle positioning sensor). How all of those can go wrong at once I don't understand, but at least I have plenty of time to work on it before the Ramble.

domino Sold the 36" TSLs and picked up a set of 38x12.50x15 TSLs with a little less tread but much better looking sidewalls. The stock spring bushings were wore out bad and got replaced with some poly bushings. Drag link got some new 555 tie rod ends. Tried to do an alignment, but the TRE on the passenger side wouldn't turn. Penetrating oil and heat didn't work, but the pipe wrench and 4' cheater pipe got it to turn!

So now I need to fix that nonsense, build a new square driveshaft (splines are trashed on my all-pro long slip shaft), and finish mounting my seats before it's trail-worthy again.

domino Didn't look like I would be doing any street driving any time soon and the rocks were tearing the toyos up pretty good so they got sold. working on getting the tsls sold too so I can pick up some 38" sx tires.
