The truck now runs and drives. Engine runs really good. Longfileds and hub gears are in. Brakes are done. Most of the body work is done, still have to paint and going to bob the rear section of the bed.
Got 60ft of tubing I need to order for bumpers and sliders.
Exhaust work needs to be done, have any y'all used arkansas performance exhaust?

|Jordan7118||Congrats on getting married, Sean! I was thinking of this project the other day. Glad you're still moving forward! It's only time and money|

It's been a busy couple of months. Got married in October! Here's a few pics to update everybody.
Gotta make sure she knows you're a Toyota nut from the get go!
Sky offroad dual skid plate. The plates on top of the frame are used for the factory mounts on the bottom of the frame. When you go with a flat belly you weld to the top of the frame.
Tried getting the belly as flat as possible. The drive shaft angle was just to steep.
I've made some solid spacer for the bolts between the mounts and added grade 8 washers to top and bottom, with nylocks.
Floor cut for the driveline.
Did a floor lift for the center console to keep it looking factory. Did a few coats ceramic heat and noise reducer.
Then sprayed the bed liner material with Raptor liner.
Made the fuel lines to run down the other side of the frame to avoid the exhaust. You can also see the shock hoops from Davez offroad.
Did some body work last week. Still have more to do though
Still have a lot to do. Once the dents are pulled gonna do a little bondo and primer, then I am going to start on the wiring.

Not much to update. So here's some pretty pictures to look at.

Started on some frame plates. Made these from 3/16" plates. Just a little tech. The frame from a 3rd gen 2wd Pickup is the same as an solid axle frame.
Exhuast mini header from a 2001.5-2004 Toyota Tacoma.

Got some work done on the front axle housing today.
Waiting to do the shock mount once the axle is bolted on.

|ArkieTaco||Got one! Thanks though!|

Still need an 84-85 front housing?

|Jordan7118||I figured you were pickin' up what I was puttin' down...|

|ArkieTaco||I smell what you're stepping in....|

Cut some square or rectangle tube to make it fit, and you're ballin'!
|01-17-2012 06:43 PM|
The gussets were talked about today. Being that it is a 2wd, the body mounts are different. So the gussets that came with the kit don't fit. It's a pretty small space and I need access to the body mounts. We'll come up with something creative.
Show me some of those paint skills fool, on the bracing.
|01-17-2012 05:33 PM|
Who's hanger? Marlin's came with two small gussets that run from the top of the spring pocket to the body mount pockets. I never used them, as they're for IFS rigs, but may still have them if you need them.
Also, you may want to consider bracing from the hanger back to the frame with a small amount of angle-cut square tube... hope that makes sense... May break out the paint skills in a minute
Lookin' good, Sean!

It's rolling.... Gotta figure out what to do about the steering shaft. 2wd shaft is different. No weight on the springs, so the shackle angle is off. Possibley pulling a leaf from the pack. Still have to buy metal to plate the frame.
Steering box mount, box moved forward far as I could.
Hole in front clip to clear the box.
Dirty front axle. Got an 85 housing that will be cleaned up, trussed and armored.

|ArkieTaco||Gonna stick to te generic spring hanger at the moment for ease of getting it to be wheeled. Might do something down the road! Just ready to wheel this thing and I've only scratched the surface on getting this thing done!!!|

Giggity, giggity, Sean!
Have you decided on a front spring hanger?
|01-10-2012 04:34 PM|
Such a beautiful day.... Decided to chop off some IFS. Pile of junk.
Still got some grinding and gonna plate the frame.

The 3RZ motor mounts came in today, this is the fastest I have ever received a part. They look awesome and the welds are top notch. Highly suggest these guys.

Glenifer... I have owned 2 black trucks. 1. 2004 Double cab Tacoma. 2. 1985 Pickup/ truggy.
This what my friend Marshal and I built out of the 85 .
The Bondo work at its thickest is 1/8".
Thanks Jordan for the further state of confusion Glenifer will remain in.
