No experience or knowledge about Smittybuilt, how's the build quality compared to Warn, etc?

Tacoman 12 08-09-2012 11:51 AM

Im also kinda curious how it does for you greg.

I have been eyeing this winch for when i decide to get one.

I like my badlands. It's not as fast as a warn but it's pulled me out of a few hairy situations

You will suprised at how durable these winches are. Have a buddy using ome for the last year or two. And it gets used alot. No relay problems like warn, and if your looking at bang for your buck its not even a question. I'd rather own one than a warn

so far build quality looks great. the free spool lever is easy to turn unlike some other winches ive seen. it free spools extremely easy (which is a complaint have have seen about the smittybuilt winches due to the grease they use). but the drum on mine will spin a few more rotations after i stop pulling.

as for how it actually works, you will get to see first hand when i have to turn around at the top of the trail and winch you.:p

I bought a cheap milemarker winch for my rig.....i got it dirt cheap in new condition....i was not expecting much but it works great. Our last trip to windrock my friends warn got hot and stopped pulling while mine never missed a step over what what turned into a 2 hour winch fest.

I dont know if the cheap winch's have got better or if the expensive ones have slipped in quality but the gap seems to have narrowed.
