I was wondering if on a 05 taco if the suspension was the same as the earlier year tacoma 4x4's. Also anyone here bought one and can give me a figure on what they paid for a 05 Tacoma 4x4 doublecab. Thanks.
Not sure on the price of dub cabs in the U.S I live in Canada, but the suspension is different. In the rear the shocks are mounted outside the frame rails with two leafs and an overload. The front has a new longer travel setup. The TRD Offroad model also has re-tuned shocks and progressive coils, and and the thinner sway bar for more articulation. All the models have had updated suspensions and vary from model to model. There is standard, TRD sport, and TRD Offroad suspension setups.Live4yotas said:I was wondering if on a 05 taco if the suspension was the same as the earlier year tacoma 4x4's. Sorry to hear about your truck Keith. The suspensions are differenton the 05's,totaly different front struts, the steering rack was moved to the front. $25k sounds about right for the non-TRD,and yes,I seen a X-Runner at the dealership today when my wife baught her 05' RAV4 Sport. I must say,the X-Runner looks the best in the Radient Red,they had a Red one and a Speedway blue one side by side, and the red looked much better IMO. The truck its self looks much better in person than on the internet. I will be getting my New tacoma around the beginning og 06'Live4yotas said:I was quote a price of just over 25k for a 05 4x4 tacoma double cab sr5 non trd. Anyone seen an x runner yet I saw one this week at my moms when I was removing stuff of my totalled tacoma.
Thats what I want! But I like the hood on the TRD sport, with the scoop. I wonder If I couls custom order it. Anybody know if you can get the TRD off-road w/ hood scoop? I really want to avoid the dealship like the black plauge.atwinda said:I think you'd want to get the TRD off road package at least, so that you can still have the rear locker. The way I understand it: standard: open diff, trd sport: LSD, trd offroad: locker. Unless you can order your truck with the locker and not the shocks.
Donahoe and Camburg already have offerings for the new suspension setup, but it's a fair bet to say that any subframe setups will be a ways off for R&D and such.
along with the rear shocks mounted outside of the frame, the shackles are of the inverted design. So that's something to consider.
