Just checking into the new '05 Tacoma's. I can't find any info on what gears you get with the TRD package. I only see 3.73 gears in all the stuff I've been reading. Can anybody confirm that the new '05 now longer comes with 4.10 gears.

Thanks.

Not that I saw

I was not able to find any stock options that had any different gears. I got the TRD Off-road and it was the same as all the others.

I thought only the regular cab had 4.10 option. Not sure on that though.

OK, I broke out my '05 specs:
Reg Cab 4x2: MT 3.31, AT 3.58
Reg Cab pre/4x4: MT 4.10
A-cab 4x2: MT 3.31, AT 3.58
A-cab pre/4x4: MT 4.10 (4-cyl), AT 3.73 (V6)
A-cab x-runner: MT 3.15
D-cab short bd: MT 3.73, AT 3.73
D-cab long bd: AT 3.73

How's that. I guess I was not clear on my earlier statement. For a V6 4x4, your looking at 3.73 as the only factory option.

That's all the specs I keep reading. Why no 4.10 w/ TRD any more?? (Just thinking out loud there)

No 4.10's unless it's a 4 cyl. Which is what I have. But if larger tires are your concern, worry not. The 1st gear in the transmission is supposedly quite a bit lower than the old truck. Shouldn't be any issue at all running 33's or maybe even 35's. That new six has plenty of torque to turn larger tires. I suppose you could buy diffs from a 4 cyl if it was that much of an issue. For what it's worth, my 79 fj40 has 3.70's and I run 33's no problem.
