What do you think ?
I have had mine one week. I am having a hard time finding a tool box. The compact truck boxes are too short, width wise, and the full size truck too long. I do not want chrome lids like the factory option (accessory). Also, I would like to fabricate an adapter which will allow me to fasten an aftermarket box to the rail system. Ideas?

Somewhere during my research into buying my 05 I saw the name of the manufacturer which made the rail system. anyone know who it is ? This rail system is ripe for all kinds of mods. Ideas?

I think the bed is too slick and that it will also scar. Anyone coated theirs ?

Other than the anchor screws in the bed floor, how do I detatch the inner bed. The side caps have me baffled.

I have been thinking about the same. Taking out the liner and instead spraying the bed with Line-X. I had the Line-X on my hardbody and loved it. I hate when I put something in the back and it just slides around... I like the bed design, just needs some anti-slide material. If you find anything let me know.

I have a truck bed mat that came with my truck right from the dealer. It works very well at keeping stuff from sliding around and it protects the bed well.

According to the '05 Taco OEM supplier list at:

http://www.autonews.com/page.cms?pageId=451

...the bed rails were manufactured by Advanced Accessory Systems.
Thanks.
I wanted to inquire about their toolbox which mounts in the rails and will slide to the rear of the bed. Dealer orders only. I just do not want a chrome lid which is all Toyota offers.
It seems the 05 Nissans have the same type rail system and they offer a black lid. Anyone know if it would fit ?

Hold up, dude!!! You can't "take out the liner" of an '05 and "line-x it instead". That thing you are calling a liner is actually the composite inner bed itself, not a liner. There's no metal underneath.

I've been thinking about how to get some bed boxes back there too. My main issue isn't the chrome/silver lid, though. I want a box with a lid below the deck rail system so I can still use the rails and also put a soft button-on tonneau cover on over it. I think I'm going to build one out of wood and have a local metal show fab me up a diamondplate lid. I just don't know how I'll mount it to the bed. I'm thinking of somehow epoxying some bolts as studs that stuck up from the surface, then bolt the bix down from the inside. Something like that. : /

The Toyota and Nissan bed rail systems are similar, but not the same. Accessories from one will not fit the other.

That composite "bed" is probably the main reason why I did not buy the 05' Taco. All those little side pockets? Imagine trying to clean those out after you haul bark dust, dirt, or whatever! I looked at it very closely, and It does not look like you can take it out. :(

Check the size of one from a dodge dakota. They are not full size nor mini trucks.
