i've found 4, yes 4 1st gen 4runners in the denver area that are bone stock with 200k miles going for between 4-6k. has everyone lost their dang mind? in my brain, 80s vintage toyota's should never cost more than 2k and thats for one in great shape. tell me if i'm crazy tho

ive been thinking the same thing. Im half looking for a 1st gen runner for a DD right now and want a relatively stock one. problem is they seem to be going for almost as much as a 3rd gen runner with half the miles!

Agreed.

NADA has the SR5 model listed between $2000 - 4425 and I was not able to find them on Kelly Blue Book (too old).

Guess they are hoping with the good economy they can get more for 'em or supply and demand.

There are some nice ones in that list that don't appear to have any body rust. That could be another, if not the main reason.

not all 1st gen 4 runners have a solid front axle.

its the ones with the solid axle that get the higher $

a nice one w/o rust is rare!

Kilroy
All the ones i listed are IFS and about 1/2 of them have rust on the fenders. i suppose i could see paying 3k or so for a rust free one but 4-5k is ridiculous, i don't care how you paint it.

The last one was priced pretty good. An ARB setup is over $1,000.
Add in the bumper and winch, and you have a pretty good deal.
ya i agree, the last one is more reasonable since it appears to be rust free and has an ARB.

Yep. that's why i'm frustrated, i want to start building a 1st gen with a 3.4 swap but i want to spend the money on the driveline, not the truck.

Crazy. I sold my 85 runner with high steer, all pro springs, and dual cases for 2300. I guess I should've priced it higher haha.

most people price stuff super high, due to so many cheapskates and lowballers on the world wide web. start at 4500 and hope to get 2800 if youre lucky. by the time you weed through all the tire kickers and time wasters you may end up getting a decent price on a sale.

heres 6 down here in the springs that are between 1k-3k

I hate it when people post that their first gen with auto trans is "rare" like it's a good thing to have.

Maybe in twenty years these things will fetch the prices that 40 series do now.

That's ridiculous. In fact, that is downright stupid, considering you can get late model Tacos and Runners with the 3.4L for a similar price. Doesn't matter that they're IFS. How many people would run the stock 1gen axles anyway? And it's not like there aren't plenty of good SAS kits on the market.

I want an IFS first gen. Something I can DD since the taco is getting a solid axle.
