anyone install a set of headers on there 2.7 that has dual cats?i was thinking about getting a set,but just wanted to know what was envolved in doing it..do you have to weld or clamp any exhaust pipes,or get rid of the first cat or anything like that?and also if you do have a header,what do you think of it?
some pics would be sweet too..

kinda hard to install a "set of headers" on the 2.7 The straight 4 only gets one header.

you cannot just get rid of a cat...doesn't work that way. There are currently 2 available for Cali smogged 2.7s: Downey and LCE. If you have a non-Cali truck NWOR has one as well.

Install is pretty straight forward if you've done at least some wrenching.
pick up a few extra stud bolts as they tend to strip out easily when removed. Neither of these headers is a direct 'bolt-on' to the exhaust so just drive to a muffler shop to get connected. they charged me $20 for mine.

I've had the Downey for over 2 yrs now with no issues. At the time it was the only Cali legal one available. I would get the LCE, however.

From what I understand, the LCE header for the 2.7 doesn't bolt up to the dual cat set-up. If you want to use that header (which I highly recommend), you would have to do some custom modifications to your exhaust. This shouldn't be too difficult for an experienced muffler shop. If you do it, be sure to post some pics!
