This has probably already been discussed, but im wonder how much motor oil a 2.7L Holds? I put a 5 quart container in when i change my oil and it still reads low.

I always put 6 litres in my 2.7 when I change the oil and filter.

I would recommend using ANYTHING OTHER than a Fram! For about the same price as a Fram, you can get a good filter that uses metal endcaps unlike the cardboard ones on a Fram.

Get Toyota filters from the dealer, I got 4 for 22 something. Can't go wrong with Toyota filters, and it's a good deal.

i use the factory toyota filters in mine,i agree with FootPounds SCREW Fram filters they SUCK

toyota filters are like $5 at the stealer

i called the dealership a while back. per Toyota specs, the exact oil amount for the 2.7 is 5.6 qts. just figured id throw that info out there....

yes...

take a plastic bag (like the ones from the grocery store) and turn it inside out. Then, from underneath the truck (that's how I get mine out...), put it over the filter (after you've loosened it) then put the bag right side around the filter. Then turn the filter...the bag will catch most of the oil. Do it when oil is cold so it doesn't melt the bag. It works for me... :xsmokin1:

You can also use a plastic 2 liter bottle...cut the top off. It's the same principle...catch the oil before it gets all over your arm.

I just changed the oil in my 04 2.7L this afternoon. The factory supplied owners manual says 5.7 US qts, or 4.8 Imp qts. Hope this helps

Cut a 2 liter soda bottle in half and hold that under the oil filter... never spill a drop ever again.
