Hey guys, it's been a while, but my old 2001 Tacoma with the 2.7 in it has developed a high idle from time to time (around 1500rpms) and I'm not having any luck solving it just yet, so I want to pick ya'lls brains on it. The check engine light is not on and there are no trouble code stored, I have checked all the obvious things like throttle body hanging open or dirty and have no vacuum leaks; I removed and cleaned the throttle body and IAC Valve (they were not very dirty at all) and it's still doing it from time to time. The thermostat is working as well as the temp gauge, the coolant is not low and it goes into closed loop like it's supposed to after warm up. I'm starting to think I have a bad IAC Valve, but wanted to bump heads with y'all before I spend the money on a new one. Thanks in advance guys.

Just an update here, it does appear that removing and cleaning the IAC Valve has resolved the high idle issue. I drove it today and it drove like a new truck and idled normally.

Good to hear. I was going to recommend physcially removing and cleaning the IAC. There is build-up in there that intake cleaner just can't clean by spraying through the bypass tubes. Its also advisable to put a small drop of oil on the valve pivot pin. Hold on to that factory IAC as long as you can. Mine lasted until just over 300k before the motor or the position sensor on mine died. There are limited aftermarket options available for those valves.
