Brand new (1500-miles) 2005 Tacoma PreRunner ,TRD Off Road, 4-Door, Indigo Ink Pearl ...

I've noticed this buzzing sound ... almost similar to a coiled spring being released ... from the front right side of the truck.

Here's a scenario:
1. Start the truck
2. Put the transmission in reverse
3. Back out into the street
4. Turn the wheel and begin to accelerate forward down the street and "Boiiiinnnnnng"

What is this? It sounds like it might be some kind of power steering assist or something. I have no idea what it is, but it only happens right after I've started the truck. Not really annoying, but enough to stir up a question from me.

Thanks!

Kirk

Could be, but I've heard the ABS buzzing sound and this is not it? It does sound like it is coming from the area where all the ABS lines junction together.

I have heard it is the ABS also. I get it too. Just the one time when you go forward on startup. It seems like it comes from the front leftside area but not sure. Anyway, I have it too and others as well. It is normal from what I hear.

If it ain't broke or falling off then don't try to fix it. My 05 Tacoma does make some different sounds then my 2001. But it functions well does the job, handles well, rides like a dream over my 2001, has better sound proofing, better frame strength, better engine, better braking, better interior room, the leather seats are wider softer more comfortable. Yes there are some clunks, pops, clanks, buzzes, wurs, and more. I will drive the hell out of it tills some thing breaks or falls off then I will take it to the dealer and tell him to fix it.

I'm looking into getting a 05 doublecab or excab 4x4 I havent decided yet but my question is. Overall do you like the truck better than the 95-04 models? What about the new V6. Does the truck get up and go with this motor or was the 04 with the 3.4L a better combination? I just want to here some comments on this truck. I want to hear the goods and bads compared to the earlier tacomas. i'm looking into reg. cab Z71's and used ford super duty's. But my first choice is a new 05 tacoma 4x4.

What about the auto 5spd. or the 6 spd. manual? Which did you like better or did you choose and why?

Personally I liked the Auto better. This really shocked the heck out of me though, cause I'm a through and through manual guy. I just liked the way the auto drove better, there wasnt a "problem" with the 6spd, it just didn't do it for me. Plus I like the 1 extra MPG the auto gets, lol.

I love my 05 taco.... We got it to replace our 94' camry V6LE. We live on a dirt road and we were tired of getting stuck and having to tie wood to the top of the car so we went to toyota and said to show us a tundra but they didnt have any 4X4's but they said they had a tacoma 4X4 and we said nahh they said there a new style and they took us over to the rig with the truck still on it and said take a look we liked they got it off the rig and took it for a spin! I love it got 5,000 miles on it :D We might get another tacoma to replace our 90' lexus... And I dont hear a funny sound though

Well one more question. What is the mpg rating on the highway or the city for the new Tacoma V6 4x4? It all depends on whether I can get the price right on one. I don't want to pay more than about 25K. I'm looking into getting a V6 doublecab tacoma 4x4 auto. trans. I want a plain addition not trd or anything.

Yeah, I probably got stuck for a cool $1500, but oh well ... I love the truck. Just wish I had not had to wait a month to get it. Simply couldn't find a a 4-door, indigo blue, TRD Off-Road Pkg #2 anywhere in the Gulf States area. Probably why I paid more.

BTW ... taking the Blue TuRD into the shop on Monday morning so they can investigate the constant rattle in the driver's side center door post and that wierd noise in the front end.
