this is on a 2005 access cab trd with the v6 and auto tranny, with 13200miles on it. The other day while it was poring out and going through many deep puddles, i had shut the truck off and about an hour later got in and cranked it over and over and over(no starty)I turned the key back and then went to start it again and it started fine. I thought it was because of all of the water but just yesterday the same thing happened and it was sunny and 65 degrees out.
Any sugestions other than taking it to the dealer and not having it have the problem and them saying nothing is wrong?

Uhm, WARRANTY!!! Don't give it a second thought yourself, bring it to the dealer.

The thing is... it will not replicate the problem while it is there(it just happens that way) they will say "it started fine" and I would have wasted my time going only for it to happen again when I start it at home. I cant even have them hold the truck and try it for a day week or even an hour because I need the truck this weekend for haulin a chipper and trailer to different job sites. I will let my sales rep know It has been happening but if it does not happen while it is at the dealership they will not look any further and send you home.
also, the service guy does not like me because I had a broken dip stick and he did not want to cover it under warranty, so I went to the NE rep and he told the dealership to give me my money for the dipstick. Then it took them 3 weeks to get me the money, only after many phone calls after a week and a half.

I had a similar problem on my01 when it had about 18000 miles on it. It rained for like three days straight. The morning after the rail stopped it would not start. The air was still heavy with moisture and the truck just carnked and cranked, never starting. A few hours later it started fine. The dealer checked several things including the ECU and the coils. Never found anything and it has never done it since, unlike yours tho. Take it back to the dealer.

If you are having problems with this dealer, try another that is close, if there is one. Other dealers are always happy to get pissed customers from compititors. It means when you are ready for another vehicle you will buy from them, so they should try and take care of you.
See if they can give you a loaner truck or even a rental truck.

I hope this helps, I have been dealing with the same problem in my 98 the las couple days. I took it to the car guy I always go to and he finally figured it out. I already had a new starter put in and a new battery. The problem was found to be between the ignition and the starter. He put a light on it and found the problem. He says it is a saftey neutral switch ($58) and $50 labor. He says that he has other toyotas in with the same problem. I have not gotten it back yet. The snow near by slowed the shipment of that part, so I should have it Monday he said. Hope this helps, I have been lost for days trying to figure this out.

UPDATE: Well I told the dealer and I was going to go in to see the NE rep for the paint chip thing but The rep left before the service guy called me back. So I have not gone yet. I had not had any trouble with it till yesterday. It was damp after a cold rainy windy day before and it did the same thing. I hope I can get one of the other dealers to take me seriously and check it out.
