Hi folks;

I just purchased my first Toyota earlier this week, a 2010 Tacoma 5 foot double cab. It has the 4.0 V6, 5 speed automatic, 4x4 with the TRD offroad package. It does have a trailer hitch and wiring harness for a trailer. 40,500 miles. I have plenty of brake but it's hard to push the pedal. I have to keep my foot on it hard to keep the truck from inching forward. The dealer said this is normal due to some kind of special brake package to assist with towing (?) I talked with the service department and they confirmed this is just the way this particular model Tacoma is. Is this normal for these trucks or did I just get hosed?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't have a 2nd gen, but this doesn't seem right.

Maybe the brakes are trying to overcome an idle that is too high. What is your idle RPM?
