where is the best place to get a rebuilt for a good price
the best kit you can get is from Rockproducts. http://www.rockprod.com/ i think enginblder gets their kits from them, alot of machine shops use their product.

besides that get your parts from NAPA,

as far as autozone/cragen/shucks DONT

for 22R performance get your cam and valvetrain from www.lcengineering.com

Mine's still a baby '89, only 165,000 on it. Have done the HG and timing chain, otherwise alive and kicking fine except for some pinging under high-load. Love this engine.

22re

I bought mine with a blown head gasket at 325,000. Rebuilt it for $300, got rid of the bad fan clutch, and it is very strong since - (336,000 now). I plan on it lasting a few more years until I can afford to build a LCE engine. And I beat the hell out of it.

My 22R in my 87 4runner only has 60k on it. Guy I got I got the truck off bought it for a deal. Right around 500 i believe then did a swap for the blown motor in the 4runner.

Suffice it to say, they last a helluva long time and are very, very reliable. And in the rare event that they do break down, they are easy to work on with minimal tools. Not like that Vette in your sig. :D

my carbed 86 had somewhere in the mid 400,000 area before it blew a headgasket but the block was still cherry for a rebuild. it was commuted with for 2 years without an odometer so actuall mileage is unknown

93 4x4 Regular Cab with 165,000 miles on it and still going strong. Oil change every 6 months, grease driveshaft every year, manual tranny-fr/rr diff and transfer fluid change every 2 years. Did the timing chain 7 years ago at 155,000 miles.
