3.4 v-6 swap into my tacoma

I have a 98 tacoma 4x4 with the 2.7 in it. I was wondering if a 3.4 v-6 from a 99 fourrunner 4x4 with an automatic would swap over to my 98 tacoma? Any Help????????? :saw: :welder:

It would but make sure that you get everything (engine, wiring harnes, intake and maybe front springs). I also think the radiator is different, just grab the whole front end of the truck.

You should checkout www.lcengeering.com they have some killer 4 cylinder setups that are direct dropin applications to replace your 2.7. Too bad that i have the 3.4 man i would sure love one of their engines.

As I recall, the transmissions may be different from 4cyl to 6cyl. Or at least the bell housings. You'll need a new wiring harness too.

Not a flame or anything... but if you are going to spend money on a swap why not go bigger. I am not sure what it would cost but I think a 350 will go. You could get a crate motor for about what you would pay for a low mileage 3.4. What do you guys think?

I think the 3.4 is the perfect engine for the size truck. Revs good, uses moderate amounts of gas, and has good power.

Back to subject, by wiriing harness you are also including the CPU correct? that will be different as well.

it fits, we dropped one in my buddies 96, however i would go with a 302, if i were to put a v8 in mine, the distributor on the 350's are in the back and you will have to beat the living hell out of the firewall for clearance, then if the cab moves any it can bust the cap or break a rotor button, trust me a major pita on the trail. a propain inj. 302 is whats on the plate for mine when i decide to take the truck down again. wouldnt mind having an AMC360 either but i havent measured for fitment and you have to use weird tranny's and shit.

What else do you know or anybody else know about the lexus engine? its a v6 too right? Ive heard its pretty comparable to the 3.4 but its all aluminium, does it have a little more power? torque? Is it the same size as in will it fit in the tacoma without any cutting junk out or stuff?

nope its a STRAIGHT SIX, and is longer than a V6 (may have clearance issues). the 2jzge is a 3.0L motor but has 225hp/220tq compared to the taco's 190hp/220tq. not much gain. hmmmm perhaps 2JZGTE

yes it is, in fact this swap has been done already. imagine the supra turbo motor w/a BIG TURBO attached ;-)
