Hey I had everything go fine on my body lift so far and went to install the steering extension and it wont fit. I ordered my body lift from performance accessories and had everything set up for a 1998 std cab 4wd. Did anyone else have this problem and what did they do to fix it. Please help me!thanks alot

I was wondering what you mean by the extension won't fit?Did you tighten down your cab bolts already? If you did that before putting the extension on it will not work. But let me know on why it won't fit because I did my own body lift a few months ago and did not have any problems.

The body cab bolts arent tightend down yet..... the problem is that the steering rod wont fit into the hole that is on the extension. The hole on the extension is too small. The side that is supposed to go up on the top side fits but the bottom side doesnt. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks alot

i had the same prob. you can 1) grind down the middle of the rod, 2) drill out some of the middle hole, or three get a new one custom made.

and why won't it go on if the body cab bolts are tight? the rod can slide up and down if you loosen the bolt..can it not?? RED

Let me see if I understand this. The top part of the extension (thicker side) will go onto the steering shaft ok. The bottom portion (the splined side) will not go into the part connected to the rag joint on the steering rack? If this is the case, I would unbolt the rag joint from the steering rack to install it on the extension. Use a screwdriver and spread it open just a little bit. To much and it will be difficult to get the screw bac into it. If the issue is on the top of the extension, use the same technique. I have the problem with both my BL and Fabtech spacers.

The splined side that u have to stick in the hole where the existing steering rod went fits....the problem is that where the rod is too big to fit into the steering extension. I hope this will make it clearer for help because i am still stuck. Thanks

I had that problem with my fabtech extension. I tapped my pickle fork into the split on the collar to open it up tiny bit and was able to get the splines in. Also, it can only go in one way, if you look at the splines, there is a section that is thicker (like 2 splines together) and it must be lined up with the extension correctly. Once it was in place a little, i had to hammer it upwards. To do this I placed the pickle fork under the collar and banged it upwards. Do not hammer the splined end as it will damage the splines.

I finally figured out the problem with the extension. But i had to go through all this trouble because PA didnt explain the steering extension to its fullest extant. It was a guess and check and it worked so thanks alot for all your guys help.
