I asked a local offroad shop what they thought about getting a 3" inch suspension lift with 3" inch spacers and he said that it prolly wouldnt work. Would anyone reccomend doing this? Would it work on my 2001 TRD prerunner?

unless you wanna blow up your whole front end, go for it. basically youll just OVER extend everything. also i doubt you could even get the whole assembly into place.

Are you talking 3" by using spacers? Or 3" + 3" spacers?
3" + 3" spacers wouldnt work. 3" from a spacer alone would work.
Check some of the sponsors on this board, there are two inparticular that have reasonably priced spacer lifts that are easily installed and have a wide popularity of use here.

maybe he means 3 inch spacer and 3 inch body. thats what i run up front and i cant rub my tires if i tried. they are 33x12.50-15. in the back i have 2 1/2 inch add a leaf and a 2 inch block. i pretty much sit my body over the tire height. i like that look.
Well if you are talking about using 3" lift coilovers and 3" spacers then the shop was right. For one it's not possible to fit. Two, even if it were able to fit the coils/spacers your ball joints and cv's would be shot to hell. Now if you are talking about 3" of suspension and 3" of body then that will work.
3 and 3 susp and BL would make sense....alot of people run that setup, including me. I fit 35's with it.
