My truck is about to hit 30K miles. What do I need to do for maintenance? I know Engine Oil and Spark Plugs. The Maintenance log says to replace Auto Tranny Fluid, Rear Gear Diff, Front Diff, and Transfer case oil. I got a 02 V6 4x4 Automatic. I use Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic in my engine. What other oils do I use for the rest. Should I go to toyota and buy it from them. Also what are some good spark Plugs?

Thanks

I agree with changing the fuel filter. There are those who don't and nothing comes back to haunt them, but why take a chance. And BTW, don't drop over from sticker shock on that fuel filter. It's expensive, but a hellya lot cheaper than a new fuel pump!

Fuel filter as stated. It wouldnt hurt to drain and fill the radiator too. Draining your atf is not enough, you need to flush it out. Theres about 4 qrts in the pan and about 12-15 qrts throughout the rest of the system. What i did was i bought 2 cases of redline D4 and flushed about 20 qrts worth by pulling the line going back into the tranny and using a gallon container and had my buddy start the engine. Replace 4 qrts for every gallon of used fluid.

Especially the first 30K. Mine was loaded with a pile of black sooty crap which may have come from a bad load of gas but I just changed again after 60K and it was clean. I'm thinking it may have been crap from the tank being new(?). Good preventive maintenance to be sure.

I changed mine at 32K and i didnt bother opening it up. Toyota says it will last up to 100K but im not taking that chance. Since you have the 3.4 its really easy to change. Its located right next to the xfer case if you have 4x4 near the framerail.

Hey guys I did a search on how to change my fuel filter (2003 2.7 4X4 44,000) and some of the post said something about taking out a fuse, depressurizing the fuel system, and draining the tank is all this neccesary, sorry not the most mechanically inclined.
Thanks,
Ben

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Unscrew your gas cap to eliminate the pressure in the system.
Start wrenching!

Edit - You will lose a half quart or so of gasoline when you unbolt the lines so have a pan ready.

Front/Rear Diff, Transfer Case, Drain radiator, fuel filter - wouldn't hurt to drain your tranny fluid also. I get gear oil from Cheker/Auto Zone for the Diffs/Xfer case - I get plugs from the dealer.
