I have a '96 Tacoma Reg Cab which came with 225/75/15 and 3.58 gears per the door plate code. It is a 4cly and 5 speed truck. I have been running 235/75/15 Hankook MT's and no real complaints on power. I am thinking about new tires and thinking about the same tire in 30x9.50x15. The specs indicate this tire to be .70 inches taller. Per the specs, it is a difference of 17 revolutions per mile. I am wondering if anyone knows or has experience on how much power difference this will make. Will it be a noticeable rob of power or should I stick with the 235's. Thanks.

Most people run 31's. I wouldn't worry about it, I'd probably actually just get a set of 31x10.50's if they're cheaper. I have run 235's, 31's, & 32's on my Tacoma and never noticed much power or MPG loss.

Ummm, 31's or larger when the truck is geared for 225's is certainly going to kill mileage and power. My truck used to have 3.91's, and I ran 30's. I noticed that my mileage definitely went down even going to 30's.

There is not enough difference between 235's and 30's though, so I would just get the 30's.

Time for a regear.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm running 235/75's and probably price will keep me with 235 or 30's but I've been told I'll wear out my clutch with 31x10.50's and the 3.58's.

Maybe if they're stupid as fuck. I ran 35x12.50 BFG MT's on 4.10 gears with a 22R that ran incorrectly.. It turned the five speed into a three speed.

I would say running 35's with 4.10s and a 22RE defines stupid.
I think you might have just defined stupid because I clearly stated it was a 22R, NOT a 22RE. Way to go smart ass!

I had to wait two months for my 5.29's, worst two months ever. Even wheeled like that. I lived in a very small town at the time and I shit you not I'd leave it in 2WD Low to cruise around town...
