I have searched and been in on this discussion before, but I have a hands on question now...I removed the ears from my carrier and installed my 33x10.50 spare in the stock location, but have a question on clearance..The only clearance issue I have is the parking brake cable bracket mounted to the top of the rear end..With the spare fully 'winched" up ,the top of that bracket is only about an inch from hitting the sidewall of the tire (the tire is above that bracket, but very close) It looks as if during any articulation the bracket will contact the sidewall..If you move the tire to the rear and winch it up, it merely pulls the spare to center, obviously due to the location of the winch..Am I missing something obvious or is there more I must do?? Much appreciated..

I would use 2 of the earr you removed in the rear of the bracket to kind of keep the tire from moving backwards into the bracket. I have a 35" spare under mine, and if i hadnt just thrown the stupd ears away, i would be doing that.

Good idea.. How's the clearance on yours?? As far as that emergency cable bracket goes??
