I need help...I have a 2001 v6 Tacoma. My 4wd has a difficult time turning on at times. In fact, it sometimes takes up to 10 minutes of driving time to turn on. And when it turns on, I can hear some "crackling" noise or some sort of short shorting going on near the passenger feet area. Any ideas of how to rememdy this? Is this a electical problem? Help...please. Robert

No idea about the "crackling" noise.
As for your 4wd, how are you engaging the 4wd, in motion, if not in motion, what speed? I am assuming you are going into HI...not LO, when in motion...I hope.

I have always tried to remember to stop, then put it into 4wd HI, then into LO, then take off. If I had to do it in motion, it is been below 10-mph.

Plus, this thread, really should be placed in the NEWBIE TECH thread, not here. Plus...Welcome to TTORA!!

Good luck on the issue.
