trans fluid for 5 speed

I have a 97 tacoma with a 2.7 L and 5 speed. I followed the owners manual and used 75w-90 GL-4 or GL-5 oil. I used Valvoline brand. I changed the trans oil and the transfer case oil. It called for 3.6 qts for both, I used 4 qts. The shop manual said torque the transfer case fill & drain plugs to 25 lbft. I also torqued the trans drain & fill plugs to 25 lbft. since they thread into aluminum like the transfer case plugs. Hope this helps :)

I have a 2004 w/2.7L 5-speed.I used royal purple 75w-90 and don't like the way it shifts now,not as smooth at it used to be.It's coming out, soon to be replaced by valvoline or mobil 1.

I've had good luck with Mobil 1, but I'd like to try the Redline.
