The 96 leafs did have a problem with cracking. If your friend's truck has more, it has likely been replaced by the TSB.

FYI, I'm running '94 Yota leafs on my '96 which gave me about 1.5"-2". With a Downey shackle I have over 3" total.

My 95.5 had the same set up as well, and they broke to hell, thats why i got my deavers, plus lift. Im not the first one around here to break them either, if i were you i wouldnt go aal. 22rToy's set up is a good one, its just finding some good pre95 springs in good condition.

Did you have deaver custom make some for your 95.5? Or did you move the hangars for newer style leafs.

Welcome to the pre-TSB leaf spring owners club (PTLSOC). :D The first batch of Tacomas from 95-96 were built with a three leaf pack. A TSB issued in 1996 corrected this issue. However, very few trucks actually got the service done. The TSB was good for vehicles not more then 5yr/60k mile.

At this point, the best thing to do is order a new set of springs. You can also rebuild your springs or swap in a set from a 98+ Tacoma (about 5" longer, requires welding and fab work).

Mine are like yours, but I got a shackle and an AAL on them and they still hold up. I'd like to get new ones, but thats not in my budget currently.

Nope i ordered them fron SDHQ and they had some for my truck, no moving of the hanger necessary.
