I had an odd thing happen yesterday. I noticed a small puddle of oil in the garage where there should not have been one. When the wife arrived home in the FJ, I grabbed a flashlight and took a look under the back end.

The driver's side rear axle seal failed. There was differential oil EVERYWHERE... it sprayed all over the back of the wheel, backing plate, brakes... you name it and it was covered in oil.

It got a new axle seal, new brake pads in the rear, and a really good cleaning. Good as new now.

I've never had an axle seal fail in a Toyota... remember to watch for those stray oil spots and check them out....
