I have a single inlet dual outlet turbo muffler on a custom out the back dual exhaust. The turbo muffler sounds just like the flowmaster but you dont have to pay for the name. I think mine sounds damn good for a 2.7L.

All I Know is the guy who did my exhaust told me that it sounded as good as a flowmaster but was cheaper. It was just called a turbo muffler I no idea of who makes it. Yes it does sound good for a 2.7L. Just ask your local muffler shop to check into a turbo muffler for you. This place I went to was a local shop owned by an individual not a national wide muffler shop.

I have a flowmaster 40 on my 2000 2.7
It sounds pretty good. Fairly deep for a 2.7. has NO rice sound to it at all. So dont worry about it sounding like a wet fart when u are driving down the road. I think it has a nice lower tone to it

I just replaced a Flowmaster 40 on my 2.7 that rusted out and blew a huge hole in it with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler from Advance Auto. They sound exactly the same to me and the Dynomax was $20 cheaper than what I paid for the Flowmaster.

Is your Muffler a dual or single outlet?? Im thinking about getting a dual out, just incase i decide to put dual exhaust on my truck later on down the road.

I've got a magnaflow exhaust on mine. It is a single inlet/single outlet, but the outlet has a 'Y' pipe on it for dual exhaust. The muffler shop was adament about doing this instead of a dual outlet to retain proper back pressure. I had two pipes coming straight out of the back. When I lifted the truck, I ended up cutting the pipes just past the axle. I want to go back and get a single outlet pipe put on so I can put my spare back under the truck. I don't think the sound is ricey, and I can't compare the sound to a flowmaster, as I've never heard one before.

I've heard some dual exhaust from tacoma 4 cylinders sound nice, and some sound like lawn mowers, lol. Now i've got a mustang to fool around with so I'm gonna be spending money on that too-'84 GT Hatchback w/ 302 HO Flowmaster Exhaust, MSD Ign. Edlebrock Intake Man., Holley Carb, Stainless Headers, and some other stuff.

I'm doing the same with a 302 in a 83 4x4 yota Torquer series intake manifold and a torquer series cam. I'm goin with whatever cfm carb the kit recommends. Not sure on exhaust yet or the ignition type.
