So after 80k miles all the mud has finally gotten to the belts. The AC compressor belt is whinging/chirping pretty bad. I looked under the hood and the belt is only hanggin on by 1/4 of the belt.

Now i know i need to change it, but for right now, if i were to just cut it and take it all the way off do you think the chirping will stop. Also, will I be able to use the heater still for defrost. I am going to try and change it as soon as i can, but being at college not to much room to wrench here. Thanks for the input

Cut the Belt.

It won't affect your defroster.

I haven't had an AC belt for 2 years and no probs (bunk compressor)

took it off last nigth, works like a charm. Everything back to normal, minus the A/C.
