Used the "2001 Tacoma 5VZ-FE 4x4 ECM terminals, auto vs manual.pdf" file I got off this forum as well as a .txt document that had ECM acronym/symbol translations. The .txt file looked to be done by multiple forum members and some of the translations were a bit unclear.

6 issue/questions.

1st issue: On the AEM FIC harness, I need to tap Bank 1 and Bank 2 Oxygen Sensor (wires Labeled Bank 1/2 Oxygen Sensor Modifier):

On the ECM wire diagram found the following: OXS (Heated O2 Sensor input Bank 1, Sensor 2), AF1+ (AFR Bank Sensor #1 input to ECM), and AF-(AFR Bank 1 Sensor 1). What do I tap?

Further, going to run an AEM Wideband sensor. Do I want to tap into that as well for the FIC to monitor or should I be ok monitoring it on the gauge myself?


2nd Issue: AEM FIC harness has 8 wires for intercepting MAG CAM SENSOR 1 & 2. An input and output wire is provided for Sensor 1 +, Sensor 1-, Sensor 2+, and Sensor 2-.

On the ECM wire diagram, only found G2 (RPM signal from Camshaft Sensor). Im pretty sure the 5VZ has MAG style Cam sensors... I guessing it has two sensors (one for each cylinder row...). Basically Im lost here.


3rd Issue: AEM FIC harness has two wires for MAF sensor input/output to intercept the MAF.

On the ECM wire diagram, there are two different wires. E2G is the "MAF Sensor" and VG is the MAF Intake Air Volume.

Im not quite sold on messing with the MAF and would like some input on weather its worth it or not. If so, which wire do I intercept?


4th Issue: AEM FIC harness has one TPS input wire to tap the TPS input.

On the ECM wire diagram found VC (Throttle position) and E2 (Throttle position Sensor). Which should I tap?


5th Issue: AEM FIC harness has two wires for Power GND and one for Signal GND.

On the wire harness found some grounds: E01, E02, E03, E05, and E1... Hmm....


6th Issue (last): AEM FIC harness has on wire to tap Ignition Power.

Im 90% sure this is +B wire (Battery Power to ECM with car running) vice the BATT wire (constant battery input to ECM) but wanted to make sure Im correct.

I cant be much help at all here, but what i can say is toyota doesnt use seperate O2 sensors for each bank. Bank 1 sensor 1 actually reads both banks and adjusts air fuel ratios. Bank 1 sensor 2 is there strictly to monitor the performance of the catalytic converter (all emissions related, not performance).

Yeah, Im going to tap the AFR sensor with bank 1 wire and tap the wideband AFR with the AUX IN wire.
