would any of these OE kits or aftermarket kits install and work on a vehicle that doesn't have it standard? Dont know if all other components are in the truck already, just have to install the wand, and wire it up... ? that would be pretty sweet if it were possible

Is there such a thing?

hey man,
just so you know, Toyota stops making cruise control kits after so many years. I emailed Barb w/ trdparts4u.com and she informed me that Toyota quit supplying the kits for my 96 2.7 5spd. I'm not sure about the aftermarket kits.... I think audiovox makes a kit similar to the stock setup. If you find a good source, let me know cause no cruise sux!!! peace, wes

yah i was going to say, all it is is a module that is hooked up in side the engine compartment that physically holds the throttle cable at whatever point you set it from the cruise controls on the steering wheel.

what year is your taco? you could probably find the cruise control components @ a local junk yarD? if a 'higher' model taco from your year comes w/ Cruise control, then you could possible just buy all the electronics and hook it up, all the wires should be there already....

Audiovox makes a very good and simple aftermarket. The XX-100 model, either vacuum or electric. About $100 from lots of places. It's a common mod on Miata's, there is a tech how too for them, haven't seen one for Taco's but should be similar.
I want to do it too. HATE not having cruise.

I found the following link that describes an aftermarket cruise control kit installed in a Miata. Its a Audiovox CCS-100 that they bought from Autozone for $100. I haven't read it yet, but it looks pretty interesting.

hey man,
buy it, do all the grunt work, and LMK how well it works and I'll buy it, LOL!!! That looks like a really basic kit as far as how difficult the install may be????? PM me and let me know if you get it. Peace, Wes

Good deal! Get some pics of the install as well, that way I'll have a good idea of where to mount the lil box!

I have a Toyota OE cruise kit that I bought on eBay when I first bought my truck. Haven't had time to install it yet, but it includes everything you need to add cruise (my truck didn't have it from the factory).

The main reason I've been waiting is that I'm gonna find a steering column that has tilt and cruise before I do the upgrade because I'd love to have tilt and I really don't like the control stalk that comes in the kit from Toyota (it mounts on the left side instead of the right side like the trucks from the factory, and the controls are slightly different). Hopefully once the summer is over and I get some free time I can finish this up and the other crap I still haven't done yet.
