Seems like whenever I'm driving ('02 dubcab) and I have the heater control set on full-cold with the fan on, my AC automatically kicks on, but the lighted button for the AC does not illuminate. The air coming in is significantly colder than the outside air. Am I crazy or is my AC running on it's own?? I can turn on the AC by pressing the button, but the incoming air seems to stay the same cold temp.

Thanks,

Beave

Any idea if turning it to warm just a little bit turns the AC off? or does it just add a bit of warm air to the AC air? I hate to think I drive around with AC on all day everyday when I am just trying to circulate a little bit of air.

From what I understand it will just warm the AC'd air. Just take it off the "defrost" settings and run it in "Feet" and/or "Face" positions.

When the selector is in the defrost position the AC will come on, this feature occurs on all cars equipped with AC. The AC helps de-humidfy the interior of the vehicle preventing water vapor from collecting on the glass....

I've also noticed this during certain times. Mostly when the temp outside isn't hot enough for AC, but warm enough that a little air circulating around the cab keeps it more comfortable. I've got a '98 though, so I don't know if this applies to me as well?

Nope, our '98s are slightly different.. a better set-up in my opinion.
