does anyone here have an aluminum aftermarket bumper or ever fabricated their own bumper from aluminum? the reason i ask is because of the light weight and no rusting.I think i saw one made for a Nissan and i think tghe brand was Calmini or something.Anyways , does anyone have an aluminum bumper or light bar whether you made it or store bought it?

aluminum bumpers

There's a guy who makes aluminum bumpers for the 4x4 Spotsmobile van conversions. They're really nice, super light, and expensive as crap!

yeah but how strong are they compared to steel???

I'm not sure...the guy who makes them says they're beefy but
their website doesn't really make any claims regarding strength. He told me the main reason he started building them was that the vans were exceeding their max gross weights.

why are aluminum products so pricey? Is there more agrrivation or something that happens when you weld with aluminum? Like more preparation or something of that nature?

Not nearly as strong. But, it is an option, as our trucks are not as heavy.Just don't expect it to survive a good spanking, unless it is really well made and designed. It would be pretty thick, and subsequently, HEAVY. For the inherent cost of having it worked, welded, etc. you might think about chromo instead. Strong as all hell, and could POTENTIALLY be made a little lighter without sacrificing strength, as long as it is well designed.

if i ever made one for my truck , it would definetly be better than my stock one! It will flex like crazy if you barely put any weight on it. Anyways , if i ever did make one , it would'nt be for winching , just as a prerunner bar or light bar. Skid-plates would definetly be good too since you wouldnt worry about rust.

Im in the process of trying to install an aluminum winch mount bumper I think it's a tjm not sure though!!!! the aluminum winch bumps require a steal frame to mount winch and all other mounting hardware is steal
Im still trying to learn about mine it's not easy and know one is chiming in for me
I can't post anymore pics here but it's pictured in two other posts of mine

I like the aluminum ones more than I thought I would
compared to stock: much stronger, better looking, winch capable,
compared to steal not as strong as a steal one
won't ever rust can also support winch and like I said it's lighter than oem
minus bolt on corners and turn signals.
It will also crumple better in the event you hit head on into a tank, boulder, or big oak tree; going over 25 mph , It is likely to do less damage to you and your rig. where it's gonna be much more vunerable is those slower impacts that don't dent the steal
but dent the aluminum with winch frame acting as crossmenber and skeleton inside the aluminum bumper steal may quite possibly be overkill just like a plywood subfloor of certain thickness to spacing between floor joists the farther the joists or studs are apart the thicker the subfloor would need to be. all in order to keep a womans high heel from poking through the floor. My opinion is they can be near enough to equal in strength. steal is easier to work with (weld) and cheaper raw material. so they both have their +&-'s HOWEVER the aluminum ones should fair alot better than most give credit for just check out crash test and development testing with tjm and everything I tried to say is supported. Ease of welding drilling mounting differences the weight difference is huge!!!!!

If I were going to buy a bumper I would get one of bentup's nice strong local proven and half the cost of arb steal ones plus the customer service and mounting instructions won't be an issue!!!!!!!!! No waiting for the wrong part from down under or paying mark-up from one of the few distributors in usa
