Purchased this summer so this is my first winter with this one and anti-lock brakes. My 1999 model I traded didn't have anti-lock brakes. Anyway, first snow, slush and ice this morning on drive to work and the anti-lock brakes appeared to grab, pulse, and make strange sounds?
ABS will actually make you a better driver even if you don't have to rely on the system. I hate the feel of the ABS at work so much that I've learned how to slow down earlier and "ride, not slide" in sketchy conditions.dlretz said:2004 Extended Cab Prerunner with 6cyl enginge. Exactly. I hated the ABS on my '97 Silverado. It actually screwed me a couple of times and locked the brakes up going downhill into a road. Snow is too tricky for it.mudferret said:ABS will actually make you a better driver even if you don't have to rely on the system. What exactly do you base that off of? your not changing anything on the abs...Lucky13TRD said:It gets worse when you lift it![]()
I'm assuming you're referring to the bigger tires that one may put on as the result of a lift?Lucky13TRD said:It gets worse when you lift it![]()
that isnt because of lift though, you can get the same effect by putting different rims/tires on,but that is not due to lift.Lucky13TRD said:Bigger tires, sometimes heavyer rims, same stock brakes.

I learned how to apply the most force possible without the ABS kicking in.
