Anti-lock brake issues?

2004 Extended Cab Prerunner with 6cyl enginge. Purchased this summer so this is my first winter with this one and anti-lock brakes. My 1999 model I traded didn't have anti-lock brakes. Anyway, first snow, slush and ice this morning on drive to work and the anti-lock brakes appeared to grab, pulse, and make strange sounds?

ABS will actually make you a better driver even if you don't have to rely on the system. I hate the feel of the ABS at work so much that I've learned how to slow down earlier and "ride, not slide" in sketchy conditions.

Exactly. I hated the ABS on my '97 Silverado. It actually screwed me a couple of times and locked the brakes up going downhill into a road. Snow is too tricky for it.

I learned how to apply the most force possible without the ABS kicking in.
It gets worse when you lift it ;)

What exactly do you base that off of? your not changing anything on the abs...

I'm assuming you're referring to the bigger tires that one may put on as the result of a lift?
Bigger tires, sometimes heavyer rims, same stock brakes.

that isnt because of lift though, you can get the same effect by putting different rims/tires on,but that is not due to lift.
abs doing its job. pedal drops a little and you hear and can feel a buzzing in the brake pedal.
Basically what you are hearing is a lot of relays clicking on and off, buzzers going off and shit. I don't like ABS, you can stop faster with regular brakes.

Thats nothing, wait till the ABS malfunctions and locks the brake pedal in the up postion and the only way to stop the truck is with the parking brake. It happened to me one night coming up to a stop light. I managed to stop with the parking brake about an inch away from running into the 4runner in front of me. I had to limp into a parking lot and pull the ABS fuse. Haven't decided if I'll ever fix it or just go without.
I just pulled mine off. (disconnected the wires at hubs) Anyone know if this is a bad thing? No prblems in the last 6 months. Also ditched to LSPV and rerouted the lines to accomadate a wilwood manual proportioner.
THe abs really started to piss me off offroad(high speeds) and in Flagstaff with ice/snow.
