Every damn shop I call for 265/70/16 says "We dont that that size in stock...I dont even think they make that size...I can check if we can order them....most folks go to the 265/70/16, they shouldnt rub".

You would think that the Stock size on a Tacoma would be more common than this. I mean it is not like Tacomas are rare around here.

When I had that size, they were everywhere... Discount, Costco, Sears, Big-O, Even the local shops had them. Check what brands you are looking at, some brands don't readily produce that size.

Considering all Tacomas, Tundras, Sequoias, 4Runners come with that size stock, that definitly is not an uncommon size. I did run in to that problem 4-5 years ago at my local Discount Tire and Costco. They had to order the 265/70 and they cost more than a 265/75 because it was such an "odd size." Well, I think it's bull, but usually now tire shops have those BFG Rugged Trails for $99. Now I run 265/75 so Idon't have that problem anymore. Here's another thing, why do they charge more for 16" tires than 15"? 16" are way more common (Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc use them on their trucks) and would require less material than a 15" tire. If you look at a 31X10.5X15 compared to a 265/70R16 the larger rim would mean less rubber... Humm.....someone's getting rich while others are getting reamed..

Try a 245/75/16 same height but not as wide..
About .2" shorter, so you will add miles up a little quicker than actual.. but not a bad replacment...

Tons of mfgs make a 265/70.. however the only one that makes it in anything but a "P" rated tire is BFG, they make the AT in a Load Range D....

You can get a super swamper ssr's in the stock size. That was the first set of tires I put on the truck before I lifted it.

Didn't know that... and in true swamper form its the tallest of its sizing, 31.5 vs most 265/70 are 30.7

The problem with that size is that ONLY Toyotas and a couple of other vehicles use that size, as opposed to EVERY Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Dodge Ram, Ford F-150, etc that use the 265/75's. There's a SHIT-TON more vehicles that use the 75 versus the 70, it's just a fact. Also, there are fewer tire manufacturer's that make the 70 than the 75.

That used to be a fact. Up until a couple years ago, about 70% of SUV's on the road came w/ 265/70R16's OEM. Now the trend has gone to larger diameter wheels and most are coming w/ 17" and larger "standard".

I sell probably three times as many 265/70 as 265/75R16's.

But those are 265/70/17 right? Toyota uses 265/65/17, even harder to find...

Toyota uses a 31" version of the 265, most the market uses a 32" version...

BFG AT KO's on TRD wheels?

The TRD wheels (16" OEM)..... Does ANYONE have a photo with BFG AT KO's on those?

My OTHER question, will I be able to find a 265/70/16 for that? Or will it have to be some other combination of mathematics to make it the same size......???? 31x?x16 ?????

I currently have THESE wheels on my 2005 Tacoma, I like white-letters out personally.

You will be able to find a 265/70/16, thou if you want anything but a "P" tire it will be a BFG AT or SSR..

If I remember I'll post a pic later, I have 265/70/16 BFG AT's on.

Thanks VERY much, I'm curious what they look like. My research has shown that I should probably be getting a "C" rating BFG? All I keep finding are "D"...
I'm obsessing over this and the more I look the more confused I am.

I have the "D" and they arent any stiffer than the OEM tires, when at OEM pressures...
