Well, there are a few trails close by that I have seen. I've been on Garcia Ridge and the Pozo trail. Pozo is pretty easy, but there is a gnarly stair-step obstacle at the top if you want to challenge your rig. Garcia Ridge is pretty cool, although last time I was there it was pretty grown over, so you have to not care about your paint too much.

There are a few TTORA guys local to you, maybe they will see this post and hook up with you for some wheeling.

You're gonna have to go more than an hour away for all of the awesome Sierra trails.

Later,
....Mike

I don't live in the SLO area, but I did go to school there a few years back. I always have fun in pismo and while not a trail TTORA always as runs out there. It is a great place to meet some local members. Here is one thread I remember that was trying to get some central coast people together.

BMW678- I noticed the pictures that are on your homepage, and it looked like the grade.....between a-town and SLO on 101. You may not realize it, but there is some gnarly wheeling about two miles past the botanical garden. The trail used to run all the way to hwy 41. since the 41 fire the trail hasn't been used much, but there are some jeep, and zuk boys that have resurected it. check it out if you get a chance, but make sure you go prepared. Im a DEZ guy, but that trail is hairy.

yup thats the grade alright, i love it up there. i dont know if my truck is advanced enough for those kind of trails, i've got a stock 95.5. i would be willing to try those things if i had someone else out there with me. maybe you could make a run with me some day. are those trails to crazy for a stock 4x4?

I'm local guy too...shell beach.

Hey I would strap the rear wheel of your bike down too if I were you. I had my bike tied up the same way before except the front wheel was against the tail gate. Its a freeride/ DH bike its got pretty steep head angle. Anyways, my bike bounce out of the my bed while I was on a bridge in the bay area. I had to drag my bike behind me for ~ .8 miles becuase there wasnt even shoulder. The funny part was the only damage was done to my truck...just couple scratches from the tie down on the tailgate. The only thing that happend to my bike was the chain fell off. Now I always tie down the rear wheel.

it is actually really hard to explain directions. Hit me up and let me know when you are gonna do a pismo trip again, I'll show you where it is though. This trail makes pretty much all of pozo look weenie. i haven't been up there in about a year though, so i might have to scout it.

Im in AG. I'd love to do some wheeling as well. We don't have a whole lot of places to go, mainly what people have already said. There is a fun trail to run from the Pozo Saloon to Lopez lake. Maybe we can go sometime, you can email me through my profile.
