I have a 2000 V6 prerunner TRD and I have a question about the automatic shifters. Is there a way to make it so you have to push the button to move it all the different spots rather than just slidding it without having to push the button

my 2001 will only slide into "safe" gears. ie, from low into second, from second into drive, from drive into N, and from N into drive. I have to press the button in to down shift or shift into reverse. I've taken apart the shifter and there is nothing in that which allows the safe sliding, so it must be in the tranny. So I don't know how you'd go about changing that.

Tranny linkage

When I installed my body lift on my truck I adjusted the steering linkage instead of extending shifters and I can downshift from drive to 2nd without pushing button.Maybe you can screw with linkage to tranny to achieve what you want.

That means your linkage is incorrect. It is possible to be "inbetween" gears on the auto. I would re adjust your linkage. And that is in no way what he is asking about. He wants the button to be for every change.

i just read somewhere, oh i think it was on the ipt transmission site, where there is a mod to make the shifter or add some panel where you can shift the auto tranny like the tiptronic trannies as in vw and audi's. sounds kinda cool.
