I've got a bent axle shaft on the passenger rear
Noticed the seals were leaking so I pulled the shaft out to replace - runout was about .035" vs Toyota spec of 0.007". Since the truck was shaking pretty bad & leaking, the bent shaft seemed to explain everything.
My machine shop friend said he could straighten it out - he got the runout down to 0.001 by bending the shaft in the middle to straighten out the end.
Reinstalled with the new seals, the seals are still leaking and the truck is as bouncy as ever - do you think the tube is bent too? I'm worried that if I just replace the shaft I'll still have the problem.
What would you recommend???
