Ok, so now that I've broken everything else on my truck, I've begun on the frame and structural breakage......
I've since gotten fixed my cracked frame and hangars....
As I topped the waterfall at Doran this weekend, I heard the infamous shriek of the fan on the shroud.........now even though I like the cool sound effects when wheelin, I suppose I ought to fix it prior to making the trip to az....
OK, I haven't yet had to deal with motor mounts, even on my old truck and jeeps.........however, I've done all kinds of work on vw mounts, but those aren't the same in anyway whatsoever.....
I broke the driver's side mount, but not where mounts typically break I don't think.....I broke the actual braket that is welded to the frame....I haven't taken everything off yet, but it appears to me that the motor mount is fine and it's just the "structural" bracket that holds the mount to the frame.........and obviously it is the driver's side that would go first, but my concern is both at this point...ok ok, i'm trying to be a lil proactive (shutup dave :xcrybaby: )
So for the help I need.........peeps with experience with this kind of breakage, or have seen it, or have fixed this specific type of damage.... I need to know what you learned, figured out, whatever...did you just gusset the bracket up to make it stronger? Did you grind off the whole thing and put a whole new bracket in?....Did you use a different mount? Did you do something completely different? .....
Now that I have built the truck up right, and dialed in all the right parts, my weak spot has been narrowed to the frame and mounts so I need experiences from people that have high torq at low speed and lots and lots of flex and twisting, as my truck has.....just to let you know, it is only the one side (driver) that went bad, and is only cracked on the top 2 areas of the bracket, everything is stock.....thanks for any experiences, feedback, or snide remarks you have to offer...they are truly appreciated
